Job Description

The Staff Nurse provides professional and holistic nursing care to patients in assigned wards, ensuring all care aligns with hospital policies, standards, and objectives. They perform patient assessments, execute medical orders, maintain accurate documentation, and promptly report any significant changes to medical staff. The nurse prioritizes patient needs, ensures smooth shift handovers, and supports teamwork to maintain continuity and quality of care.

They conduct regular nursing rounds, offer emotional support to patients and families, and assist doctors during ward rounds and procedures. The nurse also participates in health education, meetings, and hospital activities. When acting as Team Leader, they assist in ward administration, set care standards, manage supplies, and ensure proper documentation.

As a certified pediatric nurse, they are trained in BLS, ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. They provide specialized care for infants and children, coordinate with pediatricians for effective bed management, and promote initiatives such as exclusive breastfeeding. The nurse also educates families about their child's condition and care.

Committed to professional growth, the nurse participates in training, mentors new staff, supervises junior personnel, and assists in performance appraisals. They help maintain nursing documentation, optimize resource use, and ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures, including proper medication handling, infection control, and patient confidentiality.

They maintain and monitor equipment, ensure functionality and cleanliness, and report any faults promptly. The nurse also supports safety and quality improvement efforts through participation in quality assurance, infection control, and safety programs. Compliance with occupational safety regulations, patient safety goals, and family rights policies is maintained at all times, reflecting the hospital's commitment to excellence in care and service.
