1. To identify and prepare the instrumentation needed for surgical procedures.
2. To scrub and assist in the surgical procedures in the Operating Theatre
3. To circulate in the Operating Theatre
4. To promote a high standard in the care and safety of patients and in all techniques and practices.
5. To carry out "surgical" hand washing according to approved techniques
6. To carry out a sponge and needle count in conjunction with the scrub nurse
7. To ensure that consent for the procedure is signed and the identification check is done before the procedure is carried out.
8. To do identification check of patient upon arrival at the Operating Theatre Reception and time out check prior to commencement of surgery.
9. To draw attention of the surgeon and the scrub nurse to all discrepancies in the count before closing up and before the patient is transferred from the operating theatre.
10. To assist in positioning patient on the OT table with the assistance of other OT staff and securing patient safely on the table.
11. To take and record vital signs and report to the anaethetist any abnormal findings without delay and take appropriate actions as required.
12. To ensure that all required instruments and equipment are in good working order and to ensure that immediate action is taken to rectify faulty and defective equipment.
13. To act as a resource person by providing specialized clinical skills, support and consultation to the other nursing staff.
14. To ensure that procedures with regard to infection control are understood and practiced by the team.
15. To carry out emergency resuscitation procedures and to keep up to date on CPR procedures
16. To complete documentation in a timely, accurate and concise in accordance with the nursing policies and procedures.
17. To ensure that the entries in OT Register are correct and up to date. All patients' documentation are accurately completed.
18. To give complete handover reports of patients to recovery room nurse after operation.
19. To ensure that all charging mechanisms are adhered to

1. To conduct crash cart checks as assigned
2. To participate in training and educational in-service programme
3. To participate in risk and quality activities of the hospital/unit
4. To perform other related duties as assigned by superior.
Requirements
Registered Nurse
Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board
Have registered for a APC
Applicants should be Malaysian citizens
Preferable with working experience of 1 to 2 years in Operating Theatre.
Post Basic in Peri-operative is an added advantage.
Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply as training will be provided.
