We are focused on design and development of next generation firmware architecture and algorithms to deliver high performance and cost-efficient enterprise Hard Disk Drive (eHDD) products. As part of the globally diverse R&D team, you will be working in an Agile development environment with opportunity to learn and grow in multiple disciplines. This position is based in Western Digital Tech and Regional Center (M), which is a Center of Excellence located in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. It is currently only open to Malaysian as there is limitation of expatriate hiring in the guideline.

What You Will Do

We are seeking an experienced engineer to be a part of the Firmware Test Development Team. The team\'s primary objective is to develop automated test scripts which validate HDD firmware against industry standards, customer specs, and internal features/functions. The team works hand in hand with Firmware Development engineers and Firmware Validation engineers to define and enable testing for next generation WD drive products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, integrate and maintain test scripts using Python to validate WD eHDD firmware and hardware features to ensure WD product meets the quality specifications.
• Work with cross functional teams to identify, plan, and coordinate innovative ways to test firmware functionality
• Adapt test suites to changing customer/ firmware requirements, and future architectural needs
• Assist in failure analysis to help develop and improve firmware quality robustness
• Help develop and improve our internal processes to improve our efficiency and performance

• Participate in Scrum & Agile processes to plan, execute, and coordinate the team\xe2\x80\x99s work
• Be part of the team to deliver next gen cutting-edge storage products with SAS, SATA and PCIe interfaces
• Collaborate and design solutions for the challenging yet unique problems to improve firmware quality robustness
• Become the subject matter expert, owner of one or more components and provide technical leadership

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Bachelor or Master in Computer Science, Computer/Electronics Engineering or equivalent required.
• Minimum 6 years of working experience in relevant field or software quality development.
• Hands on experience in object-oriented programming, Python, data structures, algorithms.
• Capable of quickly learning new firmware, hardware, systems, tools, and methodologies.
• Ability to rapidly learn new technologies, complex code
• Strong aptitude and penchant for problem solving, and complexity analysis.
• Ability to effectively manage projects and tasks to deliver deadlines and commitments.
• You have excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
• You are comfortable and enjoy working in a dynamic and ever evolving environment.
• You can be a fun and enthusiastic teammate who enjoys challenges and celebrates successes.
• Self-motivated, self-directed and ability to work well with people.
• Proven experience as a software designer and/or software lead.

DESIRED SKILLS and/or EXPERIENCE

Added advantage if you have the following:-

• Familiarity with micro-controller architecture (ARM or ARC), embedded systems and RTOS desired.
• Knowledge in SAS, SATA and PCIE interface.
• Experience in the use of bus analyzers, emulators and other firmware debugging tools is a plus.
• Knowledge in data analytics, data visualization, machine learning.
• Working experience as a Scrum Members/ Scrum leadership or understanding of Agile practices would be an added advantage
