• Responsible for production of the plants so as to achieve highest possible energy production but not depriving the plant from receiving needed maintenance to attain long term serviceability.
• Coordinates with SESCO on energy despatch and other related matters.
• Supervises the work and activities of operation and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth day to day operation and maintenance of the power plants.
• Accountable on fuel (coal & diesel) purchase, stockpile maintenance and related matters.
• Organizes, coordinates and finalizes operation and maintenance capital budgets.
• Coordinates with Manager (Procurement/Asset Management/IT) and Manager (Inventory/Major Maintenance/Maintenance Company) on the planning for minor and major maintenance works on the plant and equipment to meet scheduled shut down requirement.
• Carries out work and time study and observation to maximise the utilisation of workers to control the amount of overtime cost to a reasonable level.
• Manages utilization of OPEX & CAPEX agreed by top management for the station.
• Responsible for the station overall OPEX, CAPEX and PBT.
• Supervises and upgrades the skills and work ethics of staff to imprint high performance culture and ownership towards the plant.
• Oversees and accountable to propose training needs of staff based on mandatory compliance and electives.
• Oversees and responsible for compliance of ISO standard within the station. Accountable to review and implement new quality procedures when necessary.
• From time to time to perform other works which is managerial in nature such as approve staff leave, staff claim and any purchase decision in accordance with GIPC procedure, related to the function and operation such as authorize and approve plant start up and shutdown in accordance with SESCO requirement but will not in any way prevent the job holder from performing his/her normal work.
• Well verse and able to exercise coal business nature with Coal Supply Agreement (CSA) between the station and supplier.
• Responsible for the station compliance to power purchase agreement (PPA) and liaising with Business Development (BD) for electrical sales energy to SESCO.
• Accountable for contract management and resourcing internal/external manpower to ensure plant sustainability.
• Responsible for reducing/eliminating repetitive defects and pre mature parts/equipment failure.

QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCES (KNOW-HOW):

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of Plant Operation & Maintenance experience.
• Preferably a holder of Steam Engineer Grade 1 competency.

Preference will be given to internal candidate.
