Job Description


The Storeman is responsible for completing an assignment to include ordering equipment and parts as necessary. Maintaining an adequate inventory, control of the inventory while issuing materials, maintaining storage areas and assisting the Materials Coordinator.

The Storeman completes assignments under the supervision of the Materials Coordinator to include:

  • Prepare field requisitions for parts requested by the Department Heads. Using available catalogues, identify from whom the item(s) can be obtained as well as using the parts or equipment identification numbers.
  • When supply vessel arrives and /or helicopter to deliver ordered parts and equipment he must be available on deck to verify that all incoming items match requisitions and are in the appropriate amounts and quantities.
  • Unload parts and equipment from packaging or boxes in which they are delivered and store on the appropriate stock shelf.
  • If parts or equipment have been ordered by a specific person, notify the individual concerned that the part is available from the store.
  • As the drilling programme progresses the need for specific rental equipment ends. Go to the various work areas with assistance from the Department Heads to identify the rental equipment. Tag it appropriately in preparation for back loading onto the supply vessels for return to the rental companies.
  • Interact with the personnel on board to ensure that the parts and equipment being ordered and supplied are what is actually needed. Respond to the questions as to when equipment might be available.
  • Interact with the materials department at the Shore base to resolve any questions that might exist regarding the parts and equipment being ordered.
  • Maintain a complete inventory control of all parts and equipment available and on order.
  • Maintain the material system on a current basis and in the correct and accepted manner including the minimum and maximum balance (OP / OQ).
  • Prepare the cargo manifests for all equipment removed from rig.
  • Maintain max / min levels and prepare FR\xe2\x80\x99s to ensure maintenance of these levels.
Other job responsibilities:
  • Knows and correctly executes Emergency assignment in accordance with the Station Bill.
  • Knows rig abandonment procedures and is prepared to act quickly and calmly under the direction of the OIM and Barge Captain.
  • In case of fire, knows the location and use of the fire alarm systems.
  • In case of personal injury is prepared to render assistance within his qualifications and report any knowledge of the injury to Rig Supervisors.
  • In case of equipment damage, reports it to the relevant Supervisor immediately.
  • Ensures that his designated work area is secure.
  • Assists as directed by the Rig Supervisors.
  • Prepare requisitioning for approval by the relevant Department Heads and the Material Coordinator.
