Role summary GE applies the science and systems of power conversion to help drive the electric transformation of the world\'s energy infrastructure. Designing and delivering advanced motor, drive and control technologies, we serve specialized sectors such as marine, industry, energy and all related services. We are looking for a mechanical project engineer to work within our systems engineering organisation with responsibility for the technical delivery of all mechanical aspects of FPSO topside modules. Based in our engineering centre in APAC region, you will be responsible for safely managing and delivering the structural, mechanical, HVAC and P&ID project deliverables in partnership with fabricators and design consultants. You will be involved at all stages of the project from tendering, through front end engineering design (FEED) through to construction and commissioning. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with Project Managers, Technical Leads, Electrical Engineers to deliver on customer requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities
Review client\xe2\x80\x99s RFQ documentation and prepare the structural, mechanical, HVAC and P&ID sections of GE\xe2\x80\x99s bid submissions for FPSO topside modules.
Create detailed design specifications during the FEED stage to define the relevant codes and standards, and work to be performed by fabricators and sub-suppliers.
Plan and progress all design, test and commissioning activities for module design.
Review and manage the quality and accuracy of structural, HVAC, Mechanical and P&ID designs, ensuring compliance with our customer\xe2\x80\x99s requirements as well as all relevant codes and standards.
Contribute to the preparation and management of the project delivery schedule.
Act as a technical point of contact during the execution phase, for all mechanical and structural engineering topics related to project work; interfacing with Project Management, other technical experts, customer\xe2\x80\x99s representatives and site contractors to ensure that projects meet all of our client\xe2\x80\x99s requirements and are delivered safely, on time and to budget.
Ensure all documentation, including drawings, records, weight control database, etc. are kept up to date and closed out at the end of each project.
Establish and manage contract design documentation, including document list management. Also produce design documentation, if required.
Conduct module design review, including 3D reviews.
Seek for module design optimization and cost-out.
Establish and maintain engineering quality control system for the project.
Indicate any change or deviation from project scope to the lead engineer found during the project that could have an impact on the cost of engineering hours, as well, cost of materials.
Liaise with other GE businesses and suppliers as appropriate in order to support the project and the business.
Provide technical advice and assistance to the overall project team as appropriate including Construction, Commissioning and Service.
Improve the efficiency of the engineering process, through development and use of standard engineering solutions for projects.
Comply with all company and customer health and safety regulations.
Share with engineering team the knowledge and the new successful experiences acquired in a certain project, in order to become good practice for the next projects.
Essential Requirements
A professional engineer with a strong focus on project delivery and credibility with internal and external customers.
Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline, or significant relevant experience in concept/FEED/EPC for offshore projects.
Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related subject.
Chartered Engineer or equivalent proven record of continuous professional development.
Significant relevant experience of structural design, HVAC design, P&ID, and mechanical design for offshore projects.
Knowledge of the relevant codes and standards applying to offshore projects.
The ability to interpret structural, mechanical, and P&ID drawings and calculations, and review them to ensure compliance with requirements and relevant codes and standards.
Demonstrable previous experience of interfacing with clients, suppliers, fabrication yards and contractors.
Good engineering, communication, and organisational skills with the flexibility to react to changes in project priorities while still maintaining high quality and accurate deliverables.
At least five years in related engineering and application in Oil & Gas / Marine & Offshore / FPSO projects.
Fluency in English language.
Strong knowledge about ABS Standards.
Experience in global project, including eng teams, suppliers, and customers from different region of the world.
Full comprehension of Final Customer/Operator Requirements
Ability to interpretate 2D, 3D Structure, Architecture, Piping, HVAC, and safety documentations.
TEKLA, REVIT and S3D basic knowledge.
Desired Characteristics
Experience of NavisWorks, AutoCAD 3D or similar CAD software.
Expertise in structural analysis using SACS or similar analysis software.
Experience of working with a de-centralised engineering team across international sites.
Willing and flexible to travel internationally.
Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict time scales.
Excellent communication skills.
Good report writing skills in order to report to direct management.
Good personal organisational skills.
Availability to work on extend time due to different time zones.
