Job Overview

TE Connectivity\'s Trade Compliance Teams interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare applications for import/export control certifications and licenses.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Regional to develop and implement overall import/export strategy and direction for Malaysia region and ensure consistency between programs.
  • Work to continuously foster positive and effective relationships with trade applicable agencies to further advance the trade program for TE DND.
  • Responsible for adherence to Corporate Trade Compliance program and ensuring compliance with Malaysia customs, Malaysia local government authority, State Administration of Foreign Exchange, State Administration of Taxation, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Dept. of Commerce and other foreign regulatory agencies as applicable.
  • Identify and assess regulatory changes and the impact to TE DND operations as well as other TE Global Businesses to ensure our policies and procedures are in line with shifting regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for applicable international activity including trade regulatory requirements for import/export, Bonded Logistics and Bonded Processing, Customs Brokerage Management and documentation practices.
  • Identify, implement and maintain classification and preferential duty programs across assigned businesses to reduce overall duty cost where applicable
  • Assist Regional to develop robust reconciliation program to include monthly reconciliation, semi-annual reconciliation tied to a physical inventory count, and discussions with government agencies to resolve any variances detected.
  • Assist Regional to execution of in-country, internal audits and facilitation of agency and corporate audit - to include post entry/post exit audit activities, reconciliation, and bi-annual trade compliance on site audits.
  • To participate and support business development effort where global trade related procedures form important part of any proposed service and solution model
  • Support the design, selection and successful implementation and utilization of applicable import/export systems including interfaces to QAD system and SAP systems, Government Agencies systems, warehouse management systems and Customs broker systems.
  • Recognize global differences in supply chain requirements and Customs procedure as well as varying port specific procedures and manage those differences effectively.
  • Assist Regional Dir to conduct trade related due diligence efforts for all Mergers and Acquisition. Including setting the trade structure for new acquisitions.
Requirements
  • At least 7 years of working experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Business or Logistics
  • At least 5 years of international trade related and 2 years min of logistics management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Customs classification, customs brokerage, Bonded Logistics, LMW licenses, Bonded Processing Operations, international logistics and freight forwarding.
  • The ability to identify future trends and requirements in a relevant environment and construct meaningful strategies to address these needs.
  • Strong functional knowledge of import/export Management Systems.
  • Experience leading the development, implementation and execution of Trade programs to address the needs of a large multi-national corporation.
