The Sustaining Process Engineer evaluates existing processes and configures manufacturing systems to reduce costs, improve sustainability, improve quality, and develop best practices within the production process. The main focus of the Sustaining Process Engineer's work is on maintaining reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
Troubleshoot tooling and processes to support Ops, Quality, and Engineering
Responsible for maintaining/updating System Rates including performing time studies and identifying optimum tooling setups
Responsible for maintaining/updating process documentation, including PICS and other documentation
Participates in and provides general input in the transfer process for machines and products
Develop standard manufacturing best practices and work instructions that improve the Samtec assembly process
Use statistical methods to conduct process capability studies to determine if process is meeting key process requirements
Provide general guidance, direction, and support to other engineering and operations teams that improve the assembly process
Provide technical inputs for incident investigation while considering manpower, method, machines, materials, measurement, documenting problem, root cause analysis and corrective action
Become a technical expert for processes and equipment in order to be key contributor during prototype/development phases of new product/process releases
Participates and drives FMEA's where applicable

Required Experience:
3+ Years Experience in Process Engineering or other related role in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with/in cross-functional teams
Strong computer skills, interpreting/developing reports, and data analysis
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Project Management training/exposure preferred
Must be able to sit/stand for at least 90 consecutive minutes, and not suffer from any sensory deprivation and/or paralysis of the limbs.
Education:
B.S. or B.A. in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, etc.) or other equivalent work experience
* Six Sigma or problem-solving background is highly desirable
