Job Description


Title: Head of Primary Location: Penang, Malaysia Reporting to: Head of School or/and Principal A GEMS Teacher is accountable for: \xe2\x80\xa2 the level of achievement for students assigned \xe2\x80\xa2 providing evidence(s) of progress of their students \xe2\x80\xa2 development of GEMS priorities A GEMS Teacher will: \xe2\x80\xa2 plan collaboratively for student learning \xe2\x80\xa2 plan based on student outcomes as appropriate \xe2\x80\xa2 involve students in planning their inquiry and its assessment \xe2\x80\xa2 plan to build upon students prior knowledge and experience \xe2\x80\xa2 address assessment throughout the planning process \xe2\x80\xa2 plan with an emphasis on the connection between subjects \xe2\x80\xa2 plan with recognition of the variety of learning abilities \xe2\x80\xa2 plan units that explore the similarities and differences between cultures/ places \xe2\x80\xa2 plan units that explore broad human experience from different perspectives \xe2\x80\xa2 plan units that focus directly on major issues e.g., prejudice, equality \xe2\x80\xa2 group students for effective different learning situations; differentiate instruction \xe2\x80\xa2 use multiple resources to represent multiple perspectives \xe2\x80\xa2 empower students to feel response and to take action \xe2\x80\xa2 involve students actively in their own learning \xe2\x80\xa2 develop open-ended inquiry and real-life investigations \xe2\x80\xa2 ensure up to date knowledge of the curriculum, as necessary \xe2\x80\xa2 advocate and embed the student learner profile in all aspects of GIM life \xe2\x80\xa2 be aware that English may not be the first language of all students \xe2\x80\xa2 address the needs of all students of different levels and types of ability The Teacher is expected to improve the learning of students by: \xe2\x80\xa2 negotiating, planning and attaining (with evidence of reflection on) realistic professional goals to raise levels of attainment for all learners \xe2\x80\xa2 maintaining a personal portfolio of professional development impacting on the standards of attainment for learners \xe2\x80\xa2 providing evidence of regular reflection on the success of planning, teaching and assessments developed
