JOB PURPOSE
The Junior School Music Teacher must be qualified and experienced in teaching Music to
Junior School students and be able to lead the Junior School Instrumental program. The
Music Teacher will be responsible for the Junior School Classroom Music, Choral and
Instrumental programs. The JS Music teacher will have experience in leading assemblies,
performances, and productions and an enthusiasm for working with the year level teaching
teams.
Experience working with a Junior School Band is desirable but not essential.II. KEY RESULT AREAS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Lead Junior School Instrumental and Choral Programs.
2. Provide an exemplary Music program for students aged 3-12 years of age.
3. Liaise closely with the Head of Performing Arts (Whole School) to ensure continuity of
programs.
4. Plan, program and deliver high quality teaching and learning activities that are designed
to meet the diverse needs within any class.
5. Be responsible for annual/ incidental musical events, performances and productions.
6. Promote and represent AISM in the wider community through providing opportunities
for musical performances in public forums, including competitions.
7. Contribute to the provision of a rich and diverse Co-curricular experience for students in
the School.
8. Develop productive and respectful relationships with parents and colleagues to ensure
effective learning for students at the School.
9. Maintain a safe and secure educational environment by ensuring appropriate standards
of behavior.
10. Assess and report in line with the School's expectations.
11. Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the School's curriculum.
12. Participate in professional growth.
13. Ability to inspire students and colleagues and build strong relationships across
departments

1. Knowledge and experience applying the principles of Visible Learning would be
highly regarded.
2. Ability to run Instrumental programs, and to lead string ensembles (Highly desirable).
3. Ability to run band programs (Highly desirable).
4. Proven skills in designing, implementing and evaluating academic Music programs
and musical events.
5. Proven skills in using ICT to improve student engagement and learning.
6. Expertise and experience leading co-curricular activities.
7. Spoken and written English is used for all school communications and as such a high
standard of English communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening is
required to be successful in this position.C. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor's Degree in Education, or Degree in Speciality plus Diploma of Education.
2. Current Teacher Registration in home country, including relevant Police Checks.D. EXPERIENCE
1. Experience developing and leading Instrumental programs.
2. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience.IV. OTHER DUTIES
