Job Description


The Teacher is expected to serve as a good role model to safeguard and promote the welfare of our clients with special needs. She should be observant, attentive to the needs of the clients, and adopting a holistic care approach by looking into the physical, education, social, emotional and spiritual needs of the clients. The Teacher is to ensure that she performs her job in compliance with The Salvation Army policies and procedures including the Territorial Child Protection Policy and all relevant government rules and regulations including those governing the Malaysia Care Centre Act and Education Act. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of the programme for each individual student and to conduct yearly Individual Education Plan with parents. 2. Draw suitable timetable and monthly lesson plans. 3. Be responsible to the needs of the students and their safety at all times eg. During meals, bath time, rest time, recess, excursion etc. 4. Prepare all teaching materials and equipment required for daily lessons. 5. Maintain stimulating environment within the classroom at all times and keep assigned areas clean and tidy. 6. Complete the assigned class register daily. 7. Maintain regular records for children\xe2\x80\x99s individual files and complete a yearly progress report for each child in the class. 8. Assist in the planning and supervision of filed trips, even if it\xe2\x80\x99s outside of normal working hours. 9. Supervise indoors and outdoors play & group activities. 10. Maintain tidiness and accept responsibility for assigned area within the Centre. 11. Maintain good attendance, dress and discipline at all times. 12. Establish regular contacts with parents at all times with the knowledge of management. 13. Attend conferences, workshops and training activities consistent with your position as and when required and approved by the management. 14. Maintain professional conduct at all times when dealing with students, parents, visitors, donors, sponsors and other colleagues. 15. Attend regular and ad-hoc staff meetings as required by the management and ensure that challenges and issues are shared so that appropriate action can be taken for the best interests of our clients. 16. Provide constructive feedback and recommendations to management to enable best practices and service excellence to be upheld at the Centre. 17. Assist in fund raising events run by The Salvation Army. 18. Attend to all other reasonable requests or assistance from the Supervisor of the Centre.
