Position: Team Lead (Contract)

Job Location: Senai, Johor, Malaysia

Responsibilities:

Business Unit Management/S4 Hana Support:

  • Providing proactive, efficient and reliable production leadership to hourly personnel on shift or area of responsibility in a 7-day working environment.
  • Directly managing all daily activities and long-term objectives of the area or department, in conjunction with managers and line supervisors across shifts or departments
  • Investigating root causes and develop corrective action plans for all substandard performance using and leveraging appropriate CI Tools across all 3 shifts.
  • Removing roadblocks to improved performance as needed.
  • Plan, Schedule and Conduct weekly Business Unit meetings that may include a cross functional group of Plant personnel. Directly involve subordinates from all 3 respective shifts and plant support groups. Delegate actions as necessary, Follow the plan/process during the business unit meetings. Keep the radar up to date, accurate and add opportunities when necessary.
  • Develop and manage resource plan (sprint and marathon) for assigned area
  • Develop action plans for improved performance and monitor ongoing progress.
  • Monitor Business Unit Team performance using all information and data available.
  • Analyze data, using statistical analysis when necessary to identify, value and prioritize opportunities.
  • Lead deployment of autonomous maintenance, drive and maintain overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), build capabilities of line operations maintenance, develop and execute maintenance action plan in the business unit.
  • Lead and support deployment of S4 Hana implementation with supports in terms of meetings and plant set up in terms of systems.
Communication:
  • Communicate effectively and timely, the appropriate information daily, weekly and monthly to all direct reports and peers by utilizing informal and formal communication processes - one on ones, huddles, shift handoff meetings, postings, Business Unit communication boards, Business Unit Team meetings, etc.
  • Lead/coordinate preparation of communications for area/plant. Develop and present monthly Business Unit/CI Progress updates to Plant Staff each month. Fulfill the role of the lead Coordinator / Communicator to all department employees and shift counterparts.
Adherence to Policy/Procedure:
  • Through Business Unit support and ensure compliance with established standards and procedures (safety, sanitation, good manufacturing policies, housekeeping and other plant programs). Identify, value and implement opportunities for improvement as needed in these areas.
Planning, Budgeting and Project Management/Execution:
  • Coordinate labor staffing on a shift and daily basis in coherence with budgeted staffing. Document exceptions and pursue approval if cost justified.
  • Champion, coordinate and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Review weekly and monthly variance reports to identify potential opportunities. Work directly with Accounting to resolve any issues that may be uncovered and make recommendations for budget improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with administrative and reporting procedures, to include LPR, SAP (including SAP PM), and overtime, while adhering to the seniority provisions of the contract / handbook. Complete Q/A, Safety incident reporting, and action plans with 24 hours. Manage and Improve process operating guides.
  • Works closely with maintenance, engineering and/or manufacturing manager for proposed plans, strategy changes and/or new projects
  • Assume primary responsibility for undertaking and executing projects of major importance, complexity and scope.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering/Business Management or equivalent combination of formal supervisory training and experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience, preferably confectionery, including 3 years first-line supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of production systems.
  • Managerial ability (communication skills, delegation, motivation, etc.).
  • Problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of product quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to read/interpret production performance reports.
  • Experience in manufacturing supervision.
  • Cost accounting background (general understanding).
  • General engineering understanding.
