The Technical Assistant Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all technical aspects of construction projects, including design review, shop drawing preparation, technical documentation, and compliance with project specifications and standards. The role ensures that the project is executed efficiently, technically accurate, and aligned with the client's requirements and regulatory guidelines.
Coordinate and review architectural, structural, and M&E drawings to ensure consistency and technical accuracy.
Identify and resolve design discrepancies or clashes between various disciplines before and during construction.
Liaise with consultants, architects, engineers, and subcontractors on all technical matters.
Assist in the preparation, submission, and approval of shop drawings, material samples, and technical documents.
2. Project Planning & Support
Support the Project Manager in planning and scheduling technical activities.
Monitor and track design approvals, material submissions, and technical clarifications to prevent project delays.
Provide technical input during tender, procurement, and construction stages.
Assist in value engineering and propose alternative materials or construction methods when necessary.
3. Quality & Compliance
Ensure that construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and authority regulations.
Conduct technical reviews to maintain quality assurance and compliance with design intent.
Support QA/QC teams in inspections and technical verifications.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain an updated record of all technical correspondences, drawings, and documentation.
Prepare technical reports, method statements, and construction procedures.
Support in preparing progress reports, meeting minutes, and documentation for client or consultant review.
5. Coordination with Authorities
Assist in submissions to local authorities for approval (e.g., DBKL, MBPJ, CIDB, BOMBA, etc.) when required.
Ensure all technical requirements meet statutory and regulatory standards.
Requirements:
Qualification:
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum 3-8 years of working experience in technical coordination or engineering roles within the construction industry.
Experience in high-rise, mixed-use, or large-scale building projects is preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of construction drawings, building systems, and technical standards.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and other construction-related software.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and coordination skills.
Strong communication and leadership abilities.
Able to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Additional Advantage:
Familiar with
CIDB, QLASSIC, ISO
, and other local construction standards.
Experience liaising with consultants, developers, and authorities.
Strong documentation and reporting skills.
