Job Description

The main duty of a Technical Director is to provide technical direction on business decisions and execution of specific projects. They primarily work with the High Voltage and Low Voltage process and they typically have the following daily responsibilities: 1. Overseeing the audio and visual production process 2. Designing, setting up and operating sound and lighting equipment for projects 3. Providing technical support for productions, programs and events 4. Supporting and advising the technical and sales teams on financial needs 5. Working with the Director to oversee the completion of projects and ensure that all technical needs are catered to 6. Providing accurate equipment costs and setup time estimates 7. Working directly with the design team to come up with mockups and technical drawings of scenes 8. Recommending and using new technologies to improve work for all employees and executives 9. Understanding written and verbal project briefs, and working alongside team members to develop plans, work schedules, and targets. 10. Analyzing operations and providing cost-effective suggestions for improvement. 11. Streamlining processes so that the business operates at maximum efficiency. 12. Assisting with training and recruitment of new staff members. 13. Liaising with clients, managers, and other stakeholders. 14. Updating work schedules and adjusting targets as required. 15. Addressing performance issues and scheduling meetings when required. 16. Motivating and inspiring staff members when tight deadlines approach and morale or energy is low. 17. Keeping up-to-date with advancements in the field. 18. Writing up reports and presenting findings to the relevant parties.
