Job Description


Position Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Technical Manager to lead our Machining Department at our contract manufacturing facility.
The Technical Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing all machining processes, ensuring efficient production, quality output, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of machinists, programmers, and technicians.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
  • Set performance goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Process Optimization:
  • Analyze existing machining processes to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize machining processes, reducing cycle times and maximizing resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machining processes with upstream and downstream operations.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure that machining processes consistently meet or exceed quality standards and specifications.
  • Implement quality control measures, including inspections, tests, and data analysis, to identify and address any deviations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to resolve quality-related issues promptly.
  • Programming and Tooling:
  • Oversee CNC programming activities, ensuring programs are optimized for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work with the programming team to develop new machining strategies and tooling solutions.
  • Manage tooling selection, maintenance, and calibration to achieve optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Resource Management:
  • Monitor and manage departmental resources, including machinery, tools, and materials, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair activities to minimize disruptions and maintain operational uptime.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to incorporate new technologies and machining techniques that enhance productivity and capabilities.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure that all machining operations adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
  • Promote a safe working environment and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and incidents.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Generate regular reports on departmental performance, including key metrics, production status, and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures, and best practices.
Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; master\'s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in a technical leadership role within a machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Expertise in CNC machining processes, programming, and tooling.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control and assurance techniques in machining.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and manufacturing ERP systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a track record of process optimization.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
