Job Description

An Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs industrial electrical and instrumentation systems, including motors, control systems (PLCs), and sensors, to ensure safe and efficient facility operation. Key duties include installation, calibration, fault diagnosis, and repair of equipment, reading technical drawings, and performing planned and unplanned maintenance to keep processes reliable and compliant with standards.

Core Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair:

Conduct planned and unplanned maintenance, inspections, calibrations, and repairs on electrical equipment, instrumentation, and control systems.

Troubleshooting:

Diagnose and resolve faults in electrical and instrumentation systems, including power distribution, motors, PLCs, and safety controls.

Installation:

Install new electrical, instrumentation, and control systems according to technical drawings and schematics.

Calibration:

Calibrate instruments and equipment to ensure they function accurately and efficiently.

Technical Support:

Assist in planning maintenance activities and supervise external vendors or contractors.

Documentation:

Accurately record maintenance activities, provide progress updates, and maintain compliance records.

Key Skills & Knowledge

Technical Expertise:

Understand electrical systems (single-phase, three-phase), electronic devices, process control systems (PLCs, DCS), and various types of sensors and meters.

Read Technical Drawings:

Ability to interpret and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and process and instrument diagrams (P&IDs).

Safety Compliance:

Follow safety procedures, work with personal protective equipment (PPE), and perform isolations safely.

Analytical & Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of issues and implement solutions.

Communication:

Communicate technical information clearly to team members, supervisors, and potentially clients.

Computer Proficiency:

Use computer software for diagnostics, data analysis, and potentially Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
