  • Establish new hydrometric stations, including the water level and meteorological measurement sites throughout the Sarawak state.
  • Operate and maintain all hydrometric stations throughout Sarawak and internationally, which can operate the data logger, system instrumentation, calibration, surveying, etc.
  • Undertake river flow measurements in the vicinity of the potential hydropower sites and assist in the development of rating curves.
  • Collect water quality data or river sedimentation throughout Sarawak.
  • Plan and manage the schedule of all field maintenance trips and raw data retrieval from the logger.
  • Prepare cost estimates associated with the field maintenance trips and construction of new hydrographic sites.
  • Work in remote areas in a safe manner, following all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Routinely maintain and calibrate all hydrological instruments or devices i.e. gauging equipment, rain gauge, water level sensor, etc.
  • Regularly calibrate the total station (survey equipment) to achieve Quality standards and accuracy.
  • Establish the connection and transmit the field data back to the main server using Satellite and GSM communication.
  • Fault finding and troubleshoot the telecommunication for both Satellite and GSM modems to avoid the downtime of data transmission.
  • Prepare and submit reporting for hydrological services and data presentation to management and stakeholders.
  • Ensure work processes adhere to HNS\'s quality procedures in accordance with ISO9001:2015, to update all field documentation, and maintain QMS certification.
THINKING ENVIRONMENT & CHALLENGES (PROBLEM-SOLVING):
  • Understanding the field of hydrological roles for Hydrometric Network System establishment. All required competencies to meet, i.e. new hydrometric stations selection and establishment, applying meteorological instrumentation and recording, etc.
  • Understand and articulate the principle of river flow measurement, the methodology, and instrumentation until to meet the required results.
  • Physical endurance and the ability to travel remotely either through rugged logging tracks or long-distance travel by boat, etc.
QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE (KNOW-HOW):
  • A recognized Diploma in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Three (3) years experience in a related field will be an advantage.
Preference will be given to internal candidate.
