Job Description

The Test Engineer II is responsible for developing and implementing test equipment, methodologies, and protocols for electronic subsystems across all products. This role involves leading test planning, execution, and analysis, while providing technical guidance to technicians and engineers.

  • Lead planning, development, and execution of Design Validation and Verification Test Plans for electronic subsystems.
  • Provide engineering expertise to the Test Laboratory and consult on electronic subsystem testing for other projects.
  • Design and implement customised test equipment, fixtures, and methodologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Apply industry test standards to product design, development, and advertising claims.
  • Develop proprietary test protocols for performance, reliability, and durability at system and component levels.
  • Conduct research programmes supporting product attributes and development engineering activities.
  • Plan and analyse controlled experiments (DOE) and apply systematic problem-solving tools for data analysis.
  • Explore automation and data acquisition opportunities for manual lab processes.
  • Review engineering changes and ensure proper testing and evaluation.
  • Participate in FMEA meetings during the design phase to ensure product reliability and performance.
  • Maintain laboratory archives, reports, and technical libraries.
  • Review and interpret test reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Oversee external lab services and ensure compliance with test protocols.
  • Build strong relationships with product development leaders to align lab research with future roadmaps.
  • Recommend improvements to lab technical capabilities and implement lean principles for efficiency.

A successful Test Engineer II should have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in developing electro-mechanical systems with embedded and application software.
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents such as schematics, drawings, and software code.
  • Strong proficiency with Oscilloscopes, DMMs, Spectrum Analysers, Data Acquisition Systems, CAD software, and other lab tools.
  • Skilled in statistical analysis and systematic problem-solving; Lean and Six Sigma training preferred.
  • 2+ years in R&D lab testing and building test apparatus/equipment.
  • 2+ years in technical report writing and test procedure documentation.
  • Familiarity with regulatory test protocols and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
