Drive innovation and continuous improvement within Test Engineering by harnessing new technologies in the areas of systems, equipment, and processes. Provide exceptional support to customers, team members, and shareholders.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIESRecruitment and Retention:
\xc2\xb7 Recruit, interview and hire Assistant Test Engineering Managers.
\xc2\xb7 Communicate criteria to recruiters for Test Engineer and Test Management position candidates.
\xc2\xb7 Coach Test Engineering Managers in the interviewing/hiring process.
\xc2\xb7 Monitor team member turnover; identify key factors that can be improved; make improvements.Employee and Team Development:
\xc2\xb7 Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis.
\xc2\xb7 Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility.
\xc2\xb7 Coach and mentor Test Engineering staff to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer.
\xc2\xb7 Create and manage succession plans for Test Engineering and Test Management functions.Performance Management:
\xc2\xb7 Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results (i.e. operational metrics, results against project timelines, training documentation, attendance records, knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities, personal development goals).
\xc2\xb7 Solicit ongoing feedback from Workcell Manager (WCM), Business Unit Manager (BUM), peers and team member on team member\xe2\x80\x99s contribution to the Workcell team. Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team member based on feedback.
\xc2\xb7 Express pride in staff and encourage them to feel good about their accomplishments.
\xc2\xb7 Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time.
\xc2\xb7 Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key operational metrics and the achievement of the organizational goals.
\xc2\xb7 Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises.
\xc2\xb7 Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility.Communication:
\xc2\xb7 Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department.
\xc2\xb7 Organize verbal and written ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style.
\xc2\xb7 Ask questions; encourage input from team members.
\xc2\xb7 Assess communication style of individual team members and adapt own communication style accordingly.FUNCTIONAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIESBusiness Strategy and Direction:
\xc2\xb7 Know and understand the campus strategic directions.
\xc2\xb7 Define, develop and implement Test Engineering strategies which contribute to the campus strategic directions.
\xc2\xb7 Develop an understanding of the Workcell business strategy as it pertains to Test Engineering.
\xc2\xb7 Provide regular updates to BUM, WCM, and Operations Manager on the execution of the strategy.Cost Management:
\xc2\xb7 Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
\xc2\xb7 Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value.
\xc2\xb7 Provide feedback to peers (BUMs, WCMs, Functional Managers (FMs) on cost and cost trends.Forecast Development and Accuracy:
\xc2\xb7 Prepare timely forecasts for the department.
\xc2\xb7 Compare forward forecast results to historical actual results for trend assessment and analysis.TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES\xc2\xb7 Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or complete re-engineering of processes and systems).
\xc2\xb7 Drive continuous improvement through trend reporting analysis and metrics management.
\xc2\xb7 Assess the adequacy of data gathering methods utilized by the Workcells.
\xc2\xb7 Assure that procedures and work instructions are efficient and not redundant.
\xc2\xb7 Offer new ideas and suggestions for improvement. Identify and implement new practices and processes.
\xc2\xb7 Demonstrate a commitment to customer service; anticipate, meet, and exceed expectations by solving problems quickly and effectively; making customer issues a priority.
\xc2\xb7 Lead by example.
\xc2\xb7 Rehabilitate troubled Workcells or to help during product launch. Foster a \xe2\x80\x9cback to basics\xe2\x80\x9d mentality during these times.
\xc2\xb7 Establish new measurement systems if/where possible.
\xc2\xb7 Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are shared throughout the Jabil organization.
\xc2\xb7 Ensure 100% adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. Health and Safety, Quality).
\xc2\xb7 Ensure all sensitive and confidential information is handled appropriately.
\xc2\xb7 Evaluate customer test strategies and recommend appropriate test solutions to support customer requests.
\xc2\xb7 Drive the development of specialized test equipment and software.
\xc2\xb7 Manage the procurement of test equipment.
\xc2\xb7 Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
\xc2\xb7 Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.
\xc2\xb7 May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.JOB QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS\xc2\xb7 Ability to read, analyze, interpret and communicate regarding common scientific and/or technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.\xc2\xb7 Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.\xc2\xb7 Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of Jabil\xe2\x80\x99s software packages.\xc2\xb7 Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.\xc2\xb7 Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.\xc2\xb7 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.\xc2\xb7 Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.\xc2\xb7 Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
\xc2\xb7 Minimum of 7 years work-related experience, minimum of 5 years management experience required.
