Key Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for the overall testing and commissioning works. Works closely with HOD to plan and lead the process.

Pre-Fieldwork & Planning

Review electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer's test procedures. Develop

detailed test plans and method statements

(including safety protocols). Prepare test equipment and ensure its calibration. Participate in pre-job safety briefings and risk assessments (JSA/JHA).

Primary Equipment Testing

Insulation Resistance (IR) Tests:

Megger testing of cables, transformers, circuit breakers.

Contact Resistance Tests (Ductor):

Measure milliohm resistance of circuit breaker and disconnector contacts.

High-Potential (Hi-Pot) Tests:

Dielectric withstand tests on cables and transformers.

Transformer Testing:

Turns ratio (TTR), winding resistance, power factor/dissipation factor (tan delta), oil analysis (DGA, moisture, breakdown voltage).

Circuit Breaker Testing:

Timing analysis (open/close times, contact speed), travel motion analysis, minimum pick-up tests, SF6 gas pressure and purity checks.

CT & VT Testing:

Ratio, polarity, excitation, saturation, burden, and accuracy class verification.

Commissioning & Energization

Perform

final pre-energization checks

(clearances, grounding removed, barriers installed). Lead or support the

step-by-step energization

of circuits and equipment, often under direct supervision of the network operator. Perform

live measurements

(phasor, polarity) to ensure correct system synchronization (e.g., transformer phase rotation, busbar paralleling).

Education & Experience (Basic requirement for this position)

Education:

PhD, Master's, Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Electrical Engineering, or a related trade discipline.

Experience:

At least 5-10 years of direct, hands-on experience in MV/HV substation testing, commissioning, and field engineering.

Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM6,500.00 per month
