Position Overview

We are looking for a Japanese-English Translator/Interpreter to join a 3D Animation Studio on a remote, full-time basis. The role involves interpreting verbal communication in meetings, translating written materials such as storyboards, technical documents, and client feedback, and ensuring accuracy and cultural sensitivity across both languages. Candidates must be fluent in Japanese (JLPT N1 or above) and English, with prior translation/interpretation experience preferred, though fresh graduates are welcome to apply

Key Responsibilities

Interpret verbal communication between Japanese and English for international staff. Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation in meetings (phone, web, and on-site staff discussions). Facilitate communication between clients, directors, and creators in the context of computer-generated animation. Translate written communication, including emails, client feedback, technical documentation, and storyboards. Proofread, edit, and revise translated materials for accuracy and clarity. Ensure terminology is accurate and consistent across all documents and revisions. Compile and maintain terminology databases for ongoing translation and interpretation work. Apply cultural knowledge to ensure sensitivity and accuracy in all translations and interpretations. Work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

Japanese proficiency:

JLPT N1 or above

(or equivalent level). Fluent in English; native-level proficiency is an advantage. Fluent in Japanese; native-level proficiency is an advantage. Prior professional experience in interpretation and translation preferred. Fresh graduates with the required language skills are encouraged to apply
