Underwriting role and to provide technical support and/or policy administration for new business and renewals within the underwriting guidelines, authority levels and service standard according to the Company\xe2\x80\x99s guidelines

Primary Responsibilities

  • Strategy and Planning
@ Support the implementation of the team strategy to enable delivery of overall business targets

@Ensure the team\xe2\x80\x99s awareness of the business plan and it\xe2\x80\x99s context, to be able to make decisions appropriately

@Apply the reinsurance strategy in order to safeguard the portfolio

@Contribute and participate in all meetings, in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice

@Positively promote the department, division and company as a whole, in order to maximize brand leverage

@Contribute to the development of the team\xe2\x80\x99s business plan in order to maximize productivity and performance
  • Policy, Process and Procedures
@Maintain product, system and process knowledge

@Attend relevant product and skill courses and passing on relevant points to other staff

@Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiency
  • Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
@Provide technical expert support to the identification of issues and opportunities within area of expertise

@Establish strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to maximize influence and achieve business objectives

@Demonstrate understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to drive and enhance business performance
  • Technical Performance
@Continually develop expertise and technical knowledge through identifying and implementing appropriate learning and development activities

@Underwrite complex insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the personal authority to meet business objectives, including:

@Negotiating rates, terms and conditions for existing and new business

@Compliance of production and issue of contract certainty documentation

@ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines

@ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives

@Support credit control in payment collection

@Contribute and influence in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectives
  • People Management
@Assist in managing resources across the team to ensure business requirements are achieved

To provide underwriting, technical support, assist in the development and management of a profitable business portfolio under the specified insurance class according to the Company\xe2\x80\x99s guidelines and delegated authorities.

- Manage Underwriting WorkBench around binding & batching accounts, monitor CAB-related activities, and check particularly renewals to
ensure they\'re correctly tagged under Corporate vs. SME and duly attended to
- ANZSIC code corrections
- Work with the Managers to prepare robotic rules to automate renewal invitations
- Work with the Managers to develop RPS rules to simplify renewal
- Help maintain the team\'s Quote Register to ensure all bound accounts are booked
- Ensure adequate accounts are linked to Salesforce
- Policy non-underwriting projects e.g. inclusion of Sanction clause, PDPA, Premiums4Good etc.
- P400 clauses updates
- Sanction clearance
- PCR filing
- Ongoing checks on unmatched accounts inside UWB
- Various reports e.g. BNM, BOD, PIAM, Reinsurance etc.
- Issuance of Certificate of Insurance
- Uplift
- Maintain product, system and process knowledge
- Attend relevant product and skill courses and passing on relevant points to other staff
- Ensure timely communication with relevant stakeholders in respect to processing queries
- Develop good working relationships with all internal customers and stakeholders
- Where appropriate, identify and escalate queries / risks to the relevant Senior Underwriter / Manager, Underwriting
- Complete other administrative duties as required
- Maintain data in relevant computer systems and other databases
