Job Description

Job Brief:

To assess and underwrite Personal Accident (PA) and Travel insurance applications in line with company guidelines. This role helps balance business growth and risk management, supports digital and partnership initiatives, and ensures smooth and compliant underwriting operations.

Job Responsibilities:

Evaluate and approve PA and Travel insurance applications according to the company's underwriting guidelines. Identify standard and non-standard risks, and recommend suitable terms or actions. Support sales and business teams with underwriting advice, queries, and referrals. Work with other departments to develop and improve underwriting processes and digital systems. Assist in reviewing product wordings and ensuring they meet company and regulatory requirements. Monitor portfolio performance and support actions to maintain healthy profitability and growth. Help test and implement new system features, rules, and product setups. Ensure all underwriting practices follow internal policies, reinsurance requirements, and regulatory standards (BNM, PIAM). Provide technical input and support training or knowledge sharing within the team.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Insurance, Business, or related field. 2-5 years of experience in underwriting (preferably in Personal Accident and/or Travel Insurance). Professional insurance qualification (ACII, ANZIIF, MII) is an added advantage. Good understanding of insurance principles, risk assessment, and policy wordings. Comfortable working with digital systems and data analysis tools (Excel, PowerPoint). Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Able to work independently and collaborate across teams.
