Responsibilities: To assist Chief Compliance Officer / Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer in the following areas:

  • Local financial crime functions are conducted in accordance with local laws, regulations and the Bank\'s Global and Regional Policies, Standards, Framework, Methodology, Procedures, Guidelines and Operational Manuals relating to AML, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery and Corruptions (collectively refers to "Policies and Procedures");
  • Advise employees concerning the observation of laws, regulations and the Bank\'s Policies and Procedures.
  • Act as liaison with supervisory authorities, lawyers and law enforcement agencies for reporting the result of any such contact when required by the compliance office.
  • Develop, adopt, and implement policies and procedures to ensure high standards of integrity of employees and compliance to rules and regulations, Parent Bank Policies/Procedures and implement a sound system to safeguard MUFGM from being used and prevent/detect anti-money laundering / terrorism financing / sanctions activities and offences.
  • Implement ongoing training and educational compliance programs to MUFG employees and Board of Directors
  • Ensure proper maintenance of records and the accurate reporting to global/regional/local management as well of external agencies and authorities.
  • Reporting to BNM\'s FINs Reporting System relating to Suspicious Transaction Reporting and preserve the integrity and confidentiality as required by relevant laws and internal policies
  • All other assignments/authorities conferred in the AML / Counter Financing Terrorism / Sanction related policies and procedures.
  • Transaction monitoring and filtering using Actimize and Hotscan system for all transactions.
  • Timely escalation of financial crime compliance (FCC) issues to CCO / Regional and take appropriate countermeasures to mitigate supervisory actions and reputational risk to MUFG.
  • Ensure financial crime functions are operating effectively and efficiently on a continuous and smooth basis.
  • Motivate team members to achieve high productivity level though close monitoring of daily FCC activities.
  • Continuous learning to keep abreast with current developments and acquire new knowledge to improve the FCC control environment.
  • Attend internal / external meeting or request relating to Compliance matters where required.
  • Implement initiatives and projects to align to global / regional directives.
  • Ensure no significant or adverse findings / issues from internal and external audits / examinations that will impact the organization scorecard.
  • Implement an effective issue management to ensure prompt identification of issues, development of action plans, reporting status of resolution and to prevent overdue or failed validation post issue resolutions.
Requirements:
  • Applicant must have a recognized Degree in Business Administration, Accountancy/ACCA, Finance, Economics or its equivalent from a recognized university/higher learning institution.
  • Preferably with minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the Financial Crime Compliance. Additional relevant experience in other sections of Banking industry will be considered as an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Crime Compliance regulations / guidelines. Basic understanding of Japanese and US banking regulations will be considered as an advantage.
  • Strong self-motivated person who can work under minimal supervision with professional communication, interpersonal, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skill, strategic thinking, business acumen and sound people management.
