Job Description

Company Description

SNV Netherlands Development Organisation is a not-for-profit international development organisation. Founded in the Netherlands in 1965, our work focuses on increasing people\xe2\x80\x99s incomes and access to basic services in Agriculture, Energy and Water. Our projects directly benefit millions of people (6.4 million in 2021), and drive systems change by strengthening institutions and kickstarting markets. By connecting our global expertise with a longstanding in-country presence, we help realise locally owned solutions. And we do so in around 24 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

SNV has been working in Vietnam since 1995, and currently has over 40 national and international staff. SNV Vietnam\xe2\x80\x99s team works together with communities, government agencies, and businesses in more than 50 provinces, including the remotest and poorest areas of the country. Our work focuses on three sectors - Agriculture, Energy, and Water - and 4 cross-cutting themes: Climate Change, Gender, and Innovative Finance. By continuing to focus on these interconnected areas and adapting and expanding our approach within them, we will reach more people in Vietnam and beyond and ensure that they have every opportunity to lift themselves out of poverty.

The \xe2\x80\x9cCoffee Agroforestry and Forest Enhancement for REDD+\xe2\x80\x9d (Caf\xc3\xa9-REDD) project reduces deforestation and forest degradation by addressing the conversion of forest to agriculture in a priority conservation landscape - The Lang Biang landscape (comprising Bi Doup Nui Ba National Park and Buffer Zone). Caf\xc3\xa9-REDD project is funded by the German Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and will run from 2018 to 2024, with a total funding budget of approximately EUR 2.8 million.

After 5 years of implementation in Lac Duong district, SNV\xe2\x80\x99s Caf\xc3\xa9-REDD project has successfully attracted active participation from partners, businesses, and coffee cooperatives. This initiative has not only cultivated a diverse and dynamic agricultural ecosystem but has also laid the foundation for a sustainable digital agricultural ecosystem. The project also helps improve monitoring and traceability in the coffee supply chains of six businesses. It supports more than 3,000 farming households, improves their coffee production practices, and transitions towards a sustainable coffee-agroforestry system, as agreed upon in the memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between the involved parties. So far, the project has provided training and implemented a traceability system for 9 agricultural businesses in Lac Duong. This includes transferring integrated data for real-time forest monitoring, traceability systems, and farm map data, and integrating them into the Big Data system managed by the district.

As one of the businesses participating in the project, Chappi Mountains Coffee has received technical and financial support from the Caf\xc3\xa9-REDD project through training courses and coffee production according to standard coffee processes of high-quality coffee.
