MSS Operations NFR team is an internal risk and control management function primarily responsible for ensuring that risks within Markets Operations are managed within risk appetite. It is a global, and cross asset-class, function that works closely with Control Owners in ensuring that key controls are adequate in mitigating our material risks. The function is broadly responsible for evaluating risks, monitoring, reviewing, and testing both the design and operation of key controls, driving consistency of the internal control framework across locations where there is a Markets and Securities Services (MSS) presence, ensuring adherence to risk & control policies, reinforcing control culture and directing control awareness activities, and ensuring that Operations management are accountable for their risks and taking action on a timely basis to remediate.

The Opportunity:

The VP, Non-Financial Risk will be responsible and accountable for the execution of the non-financial risk and control function across Global Debt Markets and Security Financing supporting teams in both the GSC and the trading locations. The role holder will also contribute to the effective execution of global and regional governance across Global Debt Markets and Security Financing.

The role holder will proactively identify key operating risk and control deficiencies and recommend remedial actions to mitigate or eliminate those risks to ultimately improve the overall control environment. The responsible person is expected to identify and articulate emerging risks and trends, resulting in proactive and timely responses.

Partnering closely with Risk and Control owners, the role holder will drive the delivery of the MSS Operations global strategy.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

The role holder will proactively engage with multiple stakeholders ranging from Front Office, Operations, 2nd & 3rd Line Risk Stewards including Legal, Compliance, Audit and NFR colleagues across the globe to develop a forward looking perspective and will help support Control owners across various risk and control governance forums.

The role holder will be responsible to perform and lead thematic reviews and targeted risk reduction initiatives triggered by management risk appetite, incidents or internal and external auditors.

The role holder will be accountable for the evaluation and challenge of operational incidents and root cause analysis to formulate appropriate remedial action and process design.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

\xc2\xb7 Good working knowledge and appreciation for risk management across strategies, capabilities, and governance

\xc2\xb7 Strong knowledge of the external environment \xe2\x80\x93 regulatory, political, competitors, innovation etc.

\xc2\xb7 Strong product knowledge across Global Debt Markets and Security Financing products in order to support and challenge Control owners

\xc2\xb7 Proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse work environments

\xc2\xb7 Strong analytical background

\xc2\xb7 Proven ability to articulate complex issues concisely and in clear language

\xc2\xb7 Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels along with proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with Senior Management

\xc2\xb7 Positive \xe2\x80\x98can do\xe2\x80\x99 attitude, high level of motivation to meet challenging deadlines and targets.

Requirements

\xc2\xb7 Strong intimate knowledge of HSBC\xe2\x80\x99s various Global business\xe2\x80\x99s and functions

\xc2\xb7 Experience in MSS as a business, with product knowledge in Global Debt Markets& Security Financing being an advantage
