DHI Water and Environment Malaysia is a member of the DHI Group - an independent Danish research and consultancy organisation operating around the globe - with tow offices in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpurt and Kota Kinabalu). Our world is water, and our knowledge of water environments and the challenges these environments present are second-to-none. DHI brings 50 years of dedicated research, numerical modelling development, and the application of practical solutions to water-based issues and problems to more than 140 countries from 30 offices worldwide. We strive to make this knowledge globally accessible to clients and partners by channelling it through our local teams and expert numerical modelling tools.

DHI\'s objectives are to build competence and promote technological development in areas relevant to water, environment and health in the fields of ecology, environmental assessment and management, water resources, wastewater, hydraulic engineering and hydrodynamics. DHI has been operating in Malaysia since 1996 and now employs 61 staff, 55 Malaysians and 6 expatriates, spread evenly across offices in Kuala Lumper and Kota Kinabalu. We also work extensively with our Singapore, Indonesian, Brunei, Indonesian and Vietnam offices, as well as more broadly across the DHI Group.

DHI Malaysia has a core consulting focus on environmental management studies including processes including coastal planning and policy, environmental impact assessments, and environmental monitoring. DHI Malaysia is one of three DHI cornerstones for environmental expertise within DHI Group. The other two are Singapore and Denmark. In addition, DHI Malaysia is a regional leader in supporting marine and coastal engineering needs using numerical models and in integrated water resources management.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced water quality specialist who will lead the future development and application of our water quality solutions throughout Malaysia and our broader Asian business. The successful applicant will have a leadership role in our environmental modelling group that includes environmental practitioners and engineers working across a diverse range of client needs - from catchment management policy through to specific wastewater and ambient water quality issues. As such, you will be part of a friendly and culturally diverse team striving to deliver to our clients in Malaysia, many parts of South East Asia and more broadly across the DHI Group. You need to be able to travel, both between the two offices in Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah), and internationally within the region.

Responsibilities

• Able to carry out Environmental Flow assessment independently and show proven track record in conducting E-flow sutdies
• Contribute technically to water quality baseline and impact assessment studies, including input to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIAs), Environmental Monitoring Programmes (EMPs) and other environmental management projects
• Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis with use of appropriate software (e.g. MATLAB, R Program, Phyton)
• Able to conduct internal and external technical presentations and training professionally

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering (or similar) preferably with strong focus on water quality
• 5 years minimum post-graduate experience in the water sector
• A strong technically based in-depth knowledge of water quality issues and their management in one or more areas of freshwater, coastal waterways and marine systems
• A proven ability to formulate solutions to water quality problems at all scales and the ability to work with others in the team to deliver client-focused solutions
• Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to mentor others
• Demonstrated experience in the management of complex projects at a senior level
• An ability to provide quantitatively analysis and interpretation of results in written reports and presentations
