JOB DESCRIPTION - WIREMAN PW2 (TNB SMART METER)

Job Summary

The PW2 Smart Meter Wireman is responsible for performing installation, replacement, inspection, and basic troubleshooting of

TNB 1-phase smart meters

at customer premises. All tasks must comply with

Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations

and

TNB meter installation standards

. As a PW2 holder, the wireman is authorised to carry out 1-phase electrical wiring and meter-related work safely and professionally.

Key Responsibilities

Install and replace

TNB 1-phase smart meters

in accordance with TNB Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conduct pre-site inspections, including checking wiring condition, polarity, earthing, and incoming/outgoing connections. Perform post-installation tests such as: Voltage and current checks Polarity tests Smart meter communication tests (RF/PLC/4G) Ensure all work adheres to TNB standards and ST electrical safety regulations. Troubleshoot basic issues related to smart meter performance, including: Meter non-communication Loose or incorrect wiring Abnormal readings Minor wiring faults Complete all documentation required by TNB, including: Installation forms Before/after photo records GPS/location verification Updates via TNB mobile applications (MWM / Field Service App) Use PPE correctly and follow TNB Safety Passport guidelines at all times. Communicate professionally with customers and provide simple guidance on smart meter functionality. Support PW4 technicians or Authorized Persons (AP) when handling complex technical tasks.

Required Qualifications

PW2 Competent Wireman

certified by Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST).

Valid ST Competency Card

.

TNB Safety Passport

(mandatory for TNB field work). Good understanding of 1-phase electrical wiring based on TNB standards. Valid Class D driving licence (preferred).

Required Skills

Proficiency in using basic electrical testing tools: Multimeter Test pen Polarity tester Ability to carry out basic smart meter troubleshooting. Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and TNB installation schematics. Good documentation skills and familiarity with mobile reporting applications. Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
