The Accounting Associate plays a key role in supporting the firm's accounting and audit functions. This position involves maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end closings, preparing tax filings, assisting with audits, and providing basic financial analysis for a portfolio of clients. The role requires strong attention to detail, time management, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Bookkeeping & Transactions
Maintain accurate records including AP, AR, and bank reconciliations.
Process invoices, receipts, payments, and journal entries in line with accounting standards.
Monitor client cash flows and ensure timely invoicing and collections.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (SFRS, IFRS).
Perform general ledger maintenance and assist with month-end closing activities.
Prepare reports and conduct basic variance analysis.
Tax Compliance & GST Filings
Assist with GST return preparation and ensure compliance with Singapore GST Act.
Support corporate tax filing processes and liaise with tax agents or authorities.
Maintain proper documentation for tax purposes.
Audit Preparation & Support
Prepare audit schedules and working papers with proper supporting documentation.
Coordinate with clients and auditors to ensure smooth audit processes.
Identify and suggest improvements in client internal controls.
Financial Analysis & Client Advisory
Conduct basic financial analysis and highlight key business trends.
Support advisory on accounting practices, internal controls, and cost optimization.
Assist in enhancing clients' reporting and compliance processes.
Administrative & Client Support
Communicate with clients, vendors, and banks on financial matters.
Support senior accountants in managing client portfolios and deadlines.
Provide ad-hoc administrative and business support as needed.
Requirements:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (ACCA/CPA or pursuing preferred).
1-2 years' experience in an accounting firm with exposure to bookkeeping, reporting, and tax.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, SAP) and Excel.
Good understanding of SFRS and Singapore GST laws.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to grow within the firm.
