JOB PURPOSE

The Junior Tax Accountant assists the Senior Tax Accountant (and other senior staff within the team) in the tax compliance and service delivery, to ensure the accuracy of the information provided to client and the on-time deliveries to client and broader A&T team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assisting senior staff in the preparation of monthly Instalment Activity Statements (\xe2\x80\x9cIAS\xe2\x80\x9d) and monthly or quarterly Business Activity Statements (\xe2\x80\x9cBAS\xe2\x80\x9d)
• Assisting senior staff in the preparation of annual FBT and company, individual and trust Income Tax (IT) Returns for the clients

Preparation of Statement of Taxable Income and tax effect accounting schedules * Assist in review of Tax returns, FBT Returns and distribution calculations of trusts once suitably trained

• Assist senior staff in Country-by-Country reporting work
• Provide tax support to the Public Officer and conduct sanity checks on tax related documents prepared by external tax agents
• Limited accounting work including data entry of sales invoices, purchase invoices, purchase/sales orders, credit/debit memos, bank account transactions and journal entries in Xero or any other accounting software used by the client
• Reconciling Balance Sheet and P&L accounts
• Preparing month-end depreciations and amortizations, prepayments, accruals and payroll entries
• Assisting in the preparation of the monthly reporting package / management accounts for the client
• Scanning and storing of documents in client folders
• Keep accurate records by coding timesheets correctly in Viewpoint.
• Participate in regular performance appraisals.
• Ad hoc tasks as and when required.

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate or above
• Minimum 1 year experience in a relevant professional firm or multinational (previous taxation experience or training an advantage)
• Fresh graduates with the right attitude
• Good command of written and spoken English
• Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
• Able to be a team player

JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• Degree holder in business related disciplines with recognised accounting qualification
• Minimum 1 years relevant experience in professional firms or multinationals
• Pursuing Professional qualifications in CA or CPA
• Experience in accounting/tax work
• Sound knowledge of local accounting practices
• Advanced Microsoft Office application
• Prior knowledge of basic taxation principles/concepts a plus
• Good command of both spoken and written English
