The Actuarial Analyst supports the actuarial team in analyzing data, developing models, and preparing reports to help the organization manage financial risk and make data-driven business decisions. This role involves applying statistical, mathematical, and financial techniques to evaluate uncertain future events, such as insurance claims, pension obligations, or investment risks.
Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Modeling
Collect, validate, and analyze large data sets to identify trends and patterns.
Build and maintain actuarial models to forecast claims, premiums, reserves, and other financial metrics.
Assist in pricing insurance products, pension plans, or financial instruments.
Financial Reporting & Valuation
Support the calculation of reserves, liabilities, and capital requirements.
Prepare actuarial reports for management, regulators, and auditors.
Participate in financial forecasting, budgeting, and risk assessment exercises.
Regulatory & Compliance Support
Ensure actuarial analyses comply with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards.
Assist with statutory filings and solvency monitoring (e.g., IFRS 17, Solvency II).
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with underwriters, finance, data science, and product teams to inform business decisions.
Communicate technical findings in clear, business-friendly language to non-actuarial stakeholders.
Professional Development
Progress toward actuarial certifications (e.g., SOA, CAS, IFoA).
Stay up to date with actuarial methods, tools, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Experience:
0-3 years of actuarial or data analysis experience (entry-level acceptable).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and actuarial software (e.g., Prophet, MoSes, or R).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS preferred.
Certifications:
Progress toward actuarial exams from SOA, CAS, or equivalent body preferred.
