Job Description

To organize and conduct analytical experimental work. Draw conclusions from the work and contribute to the development of new or improved product formulations. Under the direction from supervisor, provide technical support for all products.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow direction and execute assigned experimentation with some involvement from supervisor, discusses work with supervisor daily.
• Logically organize a series of tasks to complete assigned experiment.
• Record experimental output in a condensed, tabulated or graphic form to concisely and effectively communicate results and trends.
• Draws conclusions from work and shows attention to detail. Detects anomalies in experimental parameters or results.
• With guidance from supervisor, provides technical support to other departments.
• Keep lab appropriately supplied, keeps basic equipment functioning and certifiably calibrated.
• Understand and consistently practices EHS processes relevant to the job in the working environment.
• Organize, accurately perform and draw conclusions from lab experiments following discussion with supervisors.
• Ensure all experimental work is recorded in appropriate lab notebooks, databases and project reports.
• Work safely, following all lab procedures and contribute to the maintenance of high safety standards.
• Provide technical support (closely guided by supervisor) to other departments especially sales and production.
• Contribute ideas for lab work involving new product development, existing product improvement, formula cost reduction, processes and procedural improvement.

Qualifications

• Graduate with Honours Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 1-5 years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience in a technical role at a relevant company within the chemical or coatings industry.
• Equipped with analytical knowledge and know how to operate the analytical instruments.
• Basic knowledge of paint making, testing techniques & colour theory.
• Comprehends paint manufacturing and production processes.
• Understanding of key formulating rules and principles.
• Is familiar with major raw material suppliers and their technologies.
• Working knowledge of all laboratory & EHS processes.
