About Accenture Cargo

Accenture Cargo is a practice area of Accenture, and a leading advisor to the global air freight and broader transportation industry. The practice advises many of the world\xe2\x80\x99s best performing airlines, shipping lines, integrators, forwarders, airports, leasing firms, etc. A dedicated data analytics and business intelligence team is responsible for providing leading industry databases to our clients, including comprehensive air and express cargo demand and supply databases and forecasts. The data analytics team operates from offices in Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur and aims to provide top class customer service and continuously improve and innovate existing and new products to continue our steep growth curve.

About the function

We are looking for exceptional and highly motivated data professionals to join the KL team to further grow our capabilities and expand our presence in APAC. The KL team is responsible for developing, maintaining and managing Accenture Cargo\xe2\x80\x99s market intelligence products.

Part of our product portfolio is the Accenture Cargo Model, a network and fleet optimization tool. Launched in 2015, it helps cargo airlines to optimize their cargo performance and profitability. To date, the tool is used by nine leading airlines on a long-term subscription basis. The tool helps airlines in their strategic decision-making on optimizing what cargo to sell, which partnerships to engage in, and design their optimal air cargo networks of the future. The tool is in continuous development, and airlines frequently reach out for guidance with their scenario-building and interpreting the results of their scenarios.

You will be part of the support team for this tool; understanding the types of business cases airlines are running and modelling these business cases to provide actionable insights to our clients. You will be frequently engaging in client communication to resolve issues and identify improvements, as well as provide further technical developments to propel the tool further. Experience in the industry is not essential however a strong desire to build knowledge of aviation and transportation industries is a must. The learning curve will be steep and rewarding, and will enable you to build a foundation of skills and experience which will prepare you for a range of more senior roles.

Responsibilities

• Understand the workings of the Accenture Cargo Model, its purpose and why our clients use it
• Engage frequently with clients, by providing support and running business cases with them.
• Analyzing and interpreting the results of the optimization model to provide insights on the client\xe2\x80\x99s network, fleet and optimal sales strategy
• Provide day-to-day client troubleshooting and bug fixes and undertake regular housekeeping activities
• Propel the tool(s) forward through exciting and intensive development sprints
• There is potential for client-facing workshops and training, and as such may require international travel depending on ongoing global developments
• Keep up to date with current industry trends reported in various industry publications to ensure domain expertise with the data being analyzed

From this role you will gain good experience and knowledge in the following:

• Domain expertise in the air cargo industry and especially network optimization
• Client interaction, deep understanding of their business cases and translating them into actional insights
• Writing SQL queries and modifying scripts on MS SQL Server databases
• Exposure to developing dashboards in PowerBI, and understanding cloud platform technology

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experienced analysts, with a minimum 1-2 years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience in an analytical role
• Minimum bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Applied Science/Applied Mathematics/Economics/Business Administration/Business Information Systems or relevant degrees with a strong focus on statistics or data
• Excellent analytical abilities, a \xe2\x80\x98number cruncher\xe2\x80\x99
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, both face-to-face as remotely, to understand their questions and provide guidance
• SQL expertise: excellent SQL capabilities are preferred, but candidates with basic SQL skills will also be considered
• Experience in the aviation industry will be advantageous, together with a strong curiosity to continually gain and improve knowledge about the aviation industry
• Impeccable attention to detail and strong discipline in cross checking results
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
