Assistant Chef
to support our Head Chef in daily operations and uphold our commitment to great food made from scratch.
Role Overview
As an Assistant Chef, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth kitchen operations -- from preparation to service. You will work closely with the Head Chef, taking charge of cooking (particularly saute and deep-frying), maintaining quality, and keeping the kitchen clean and organised. The ideal candidate is fast, disciplined, a strong team player, and eager to grow in their culinary career.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations
Prepare and cook dishes during service to company standards
Assist with food prep and production -- all items made from scratch
Maintain kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and organisation at all times
Follow and uphold kitchen SOPs, food safety, and hygiene standards
Learn and assist with kitchen paperwork, stock management, and inventory tasks
Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house teams
Ensure consistency, quality, and timing during busy service periods
Take initiative while following direction from senior chefs
Requirements
2-3 years of professional kitchen experience (preferably in restaurants or hotels)
Knowledge of food hygiene, handling, and safety standards
Punctual, disciplined, and positive attitude
Ability to work quickly, calmly, and efficiently under pressure
Skilled in frying, sauteing, and other Western cooking methods
Willing to work split shifts, weekends, and public holidays
Physically fit for long hours on your feet
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Passionate about cooking and eager to learn and grow
Able to communicate in English and Bahasa Melayu
Minimum Education:
SPM / O-Level; Diploma in Culinary Arts is an advantage
