The Assistant Engineer in Production Engineering plays a key role in supporting equipment design, tooling development, process improvement, and maintenance activities across multiple manufacturing domains such as assembly, winding, molding, and stamping. The role involves both mechanical and electrical responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on hands-on problem-solving, CAD design, machine troubleshooting, and coordination with vendors and internal teams. The position also involves driving automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce dependence on manual operations.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and improve mechanical components such as stamping dies, molding molds, and custom machinery to enhance production efficiency and reduce maintenance.
Manage and track the tooling schedule, including design, fabrication, testing, and equipment approval until mass production.
Responsible for driving automation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing manpower requirements.
Develop and maintain detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for mechanical parts, tooling, and equipment.
Design and modify electrical control systems including PLC programs, timing charts, and circuit layouts to improve automation performance.
Convert microprocessor-based systems to PLC-controlled systems.
Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in machines such as assembly and winding equipment to reduce downtime.
Perform maintenance, improvement, and repair activities on stamping dies, molds, and production machinery.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical and mechanical design teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Plan, monitor, and coordinate with external vendors for tooling fabrication, equipment procurement, and outsourced projects.
Support new product introduction by assisting in prototyping, cost estimation, and setup of production equipment.
Contribute to process standardization and optimization in tooling maintenance and production operations.
Liaise with production teams to gather feedback, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions for design or process issues.
Ensure all technical documentation, including drawings and revision records, is kept up-to-date in line with engineering changes.
Job Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Tool & Die, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in engineering design, tooling, automation, or production support.
Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Excess hybrid, ICAD, Top Solid, or equivalent).
Experience in PLC programming and electrical troubleshooting (e.g., using CV-X Vision Systems, PLCs, HMIs).
Good understanding of manufacturing processes related to stamping, molding, and assembly machinery.
Hands-on skills in troubleshooting and machine adjustments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical approach to engineering challenges.
Good teamwork and communication abilities; capable of working with cross-functional and vendor teams.
Able to manage multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards is a plus.
Experience with connector products, machine maintenance, and tooling repair is an added advantage.
