Join us as an Assistant Engineering Manager. Drive process optimization, validate project feasibility, and foster continuous improvement in precision engineering.
What you'll be doing
1. Engineering Management & Team Leadership
Assist the Engineering Manager in the daily planning, coordination, and supervision of the engineering team, including engineers, technicians, and drafters.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training team members to enhance their skills and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Delegate tasks effectively, monitor project progress, and ensure timely completion of engineering deliverables.
Participate in performance reviews and contribute to team development strategies.
2. Precision Manufacturing & Process Optimization
Oversee and refining high-precision manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, micromachining, EDM, grinding, optical fabrication) to achieve stringent tolerance, surface finish, and quality requirements.
Lead and champion Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) and Lean Manufacturing initiatives to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis to monitor process stability, identify trends, and implement corrective actions for variation reduction.
Spearhead process optimization projects to enhance yield, reduce costs, and improve product reliability.
3. Feasibility Study & New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Lead or co-lead technical feasibility studies for new products, designs, and materials, assessing manufacturability, capability, and cost implications.
Develop and validate manufacturing strategies for New Product Introduction (NPI), creating detailed project plans, timelines, and resource requirements.
Collaborate with R&D, Design, and Quality teams during the Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) phases.
Create prototypes, conduct First Article Inspection (FAI), and compile reports to validate the production process.
4. Project & Quality Management
Manage engineering projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and timeline objectives.
Lead root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for non-conformances, customer complaints, and internal failures.
Ensure all engineering activities and documentation comply with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001) and customer-specific requirements.
5. Technical Support & Troubleshooting
Serve as a top-tier technical resource for resolving complex manufacturing issues, tooling challenges, and equipment malfunctions.
Drive troubleshooting efforts on the production floor to minimize downtime and ensure continuous flow.
Evaluate and specify new technologies, equipment, and tooling to maintain a competitive edge in precision manufacturing capabilities.
Job Qualifications:
Experience:
o Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
o At least 2 years in a leadership, supervisory, or senior engineering role (e.g., Senior Engineer, Team Lead) with demonstrated project management skills.
Knowledge & Skills:
o In-depth knowledge of precision machining processes, metrology, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
o Proven experience with process optimization, feasibility studies, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly desirable).
o Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) and ERP systems.
o Strong understanding of SPC, FMEA, and CAPA methodologies.
