Position Overview

The Assistant Manager/Manager, Commercial (Rail) is responsible for driving the commercial growth and performance of the rail logistics business in Ipoh. This role focuses on expanding the customer base, optimising revenue, and ensuring service excellence in coordination with operations and partners such as KTMB and port authorities. The position requires a strong commercial mindset, analytical ability, and hands-on leadership to support rail operations efficiency and profitability.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute commercial strategies to grow the rail freight and multimodal business. Identify and secure new business opportunities and partnerships within the central and northern regions. Support tender preparation, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations to strengthen market competitiveness. Maintain strong relationships with key customers and ensure high service satisfaction. Act as the main liaison with government agencies, KTMB, and logistics partners to support seamless rail operations. Resolve service or performance issues proactively and uphold customer trust. Monitor revenue performance, cost efficiency, and profitability targets for the rail division. Prepare sales forecasts, performance reports, and margin analyses. Support management in data-driven decision-making and continuous commercial improvement. Collaborate with operations and planning teams to ensure timely and efficient rail services. Optimise wagon utilisation, scheduling, and service reliability. Promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement aligned with company standards.

Requirements

Diploma / Degree

in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.

Minimum 7 years of experience

in commercial, business development, or rail logistics roles.Rail experience is an advantage, but not mandatory -- candidates with strong commercial or logistics skills are encouraged to apply. Excellent

communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
