BAT MALAYSIA IS LOOKING FOR AN ASSISTANT MANAGER - CONTROLLERSHIP

ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is part of GBS Corporate Finance Team.

The primary responsibility of the role is to support the preparation of the statutory and management accounting reporting process, perform reconciliations, analysis with the purpose of testing the reasonableness of the various financial reports, which include financial statements, information package supporting various decision points from the IBPM process.

The objective of this role is to enable the FSSCs to meet their business objectives by providing quality general accounting analysis and overall business support for end markets

Geographic Scope: Direct Business Units Scope

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

• Ensuring that month end close activities, statutory and management financial reporting (actual financials) are performed on time and in compliance with SOX.
• Serve as a subject matter expert to local accounting standards and supports Corporate Finance Manager.
• Support in external and internal audit engagements.
• Ensure smooth delivery for both management and statutory reporting process, which includes QPR and QTR reporting exercises.
• Review preparation of various submissions of the management reporting unit as well as legal entity reporting requirements as per the deadlines and with the frequency set by the IBPM process.
• Perform analytical review to ensure the movements vs. previous periods or vs. the previous forecast make sense
• Facilitate year-end audit and quarterly Bursa reporting by dealing with external auditors and performing financial analysis
• Maintains lease schedule and CAPEX budget tracking
• Provide mentorship to subordinates and steer the team to continuously deliver value and results

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• At least 5-7 years of experience in a global FMCG or similar dynamic operating environment
• Understand the impact of the accounting processes and practices and any changes in accounting standards
• A detailed understanding and knowledge of relevant finance tools and systems, specifically BI/BPC or SAP equivalent
• Strong communication and inter-personal skills to support key stakeholders.
• Able to identify process and reporting improvements and proactively implement solutions.
• Meticulous, analytical, proactive, and can work under pressure with minimum supervision
• Able and willing to provide mentorship to subordinates, strong leadership traits and capability
• Degree educated or with professional accountancy qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA) preferred
