What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do:

Role Purpose

The HBFR Clearing and Settlements section is responsible for settling trades within Euroclear, domestic, crossborder markets in Northern Europe, Southern Europe and Eurobonds. This involves resolving trade discrepancies though investigation and contact with clients, middle office, front office and other onshore business counterparts. This also includes sourcing and verifying Standard Settlement Instructions (SSIs) as well as raising SSI set-up when necessary. The goal is to ensure trades are fully settled successfully and accordingly. The Assistant Manger Operations (AMO) is also responsible for the HBFR Depot Reconciliation and HBFR Custodian Fees smooth operation. Candidate has to be fluent in French language as a BAU requirement.

To continuously provide high quality processing service to achieve maximum customer satisfaction within the specified Performance Level Agreement\xe2\x80\x99s (PLAs). Responsible for relationship building and resolving customer inquiries in a professional manner.

Principal Accountabilities: Key activities and decision making areas

Impact on the Business

  • Acquire and update knowledge on procedures related to relevant processes
  • All exceptions are actioned and investigated accordingly in a timely manner.
  • Timely follow-up and escalation of outstanding past value date trades and Fails
  • Providing expert analysis of issues and their root causes, and ensuring closure of items, as well as preventing them from recurring.
  • Adherance to HSBC policy and procedures

  • Responding to emails and swift messages in a timely manner, with consideration of urgency and importance
  • Responding to phone calls with courtesy and professionalism
  • Engaging customer or stakeholder requests in a constructive manner
  • Actively participating in forums, meetings, and similar such sessions
Leadership & Teamwork
  • Supervisory and monitoring of tasks and team members performance
  • Demonstrates initiative in managing people or BAU issues, working closely with the team manager
  • Demonstrates ownership of training new or existing staff
  • Extend support to team members by taking on redistributed work, etc
  • Supports the team manager in building team spirit and shared goals. Participate or leads team building initiatives within the premises and occasionally outside
  • Support broader initiatives of the business unit
Operational Effectiveness & Control
  • To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • To implement the Group Compliance Policy as applicable to your role in conjunction with the relevant Compliance Department. The term \xe2\x80\x98compliance\xe2\x80\x99 embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply with The Philippines and in relation to the countries migrating work to the assigned Global Service Centre (GSC)
  • To continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures, management restructures, and the impact of new technology in conjunction with the donor Group companies.   • The requirement for each employee to be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with their role and to ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
  • Supporting the control initiatives and programs of Business Risk Control Management (BRCM), Compliance, (Operational Risk Internal Control) ORIC, the management team, etc
Role Context
  • The Clearing and Settlements function sits within the offshore of the HSBC Group, HSBC Technology and Services. As a facilitated service, the function has a matrix reporting structure: locally to the functionally head and the Global Banking and Markets (GBM) Service Centre Manila head, and functionally into the Head of Fixed Income Operations in KL. There are also regional responsibilities to the HUB location, and ultimately the global head of Fixed Income Securities.
  • The AMO reports into a Clearing and Settlements Manager / AVP who is responsible for the function of that region.
  • As AMO, there are responsibilities to the team and to the team manager. They are expected to provide guidance and support to the team and will frequently be delegated managerial responsibility.
Management of Risk
  • The function is primarily controlled by the policies of the Markets Operations Functional Instruction Manual (FIM), 12. Within this, several sections specifically provide guidance to the settlements activity, primarily 12.5 and 12.2.
  • Other FIM policies related to some of the activities apply
  • BRCM, Compliance, and GSC policies also apply
  • As AMO, familiarity with the applicable FIM policies is expected.
Observation of Internal Controls
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • All relevant internal and external policies: Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), Global Standards, Anti-Money Laundering, Financial Crime, Know Your Customer (KYC), Sanctions, Staff Dealing Rules, etc
Role Dimensions
  • Depending on the balance sheet size, the daily average transaction volume the team is responsible for is around 500k to 600k trades.
  • AMO \xe2\x80\x93 Individual Contributor perform requests, inputs or release, under dual control function. There are also delegated authority levels.

Due to the urgent hiring need, candidates with immediate right to work locally and no relocation need will be prioritised.
