to support daily operations and lead our Front-of-House (FOH) team. You will help run the gym smoothly, deliver excellent customer service, keep the facility safe and clean, and build a welcoming climbing community.
This is a hands-on role. You will be on the floor, coaching staff, solving problems quickly, inventory stock management and helping customers every day.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Daily Gym Operations
Open and close the gym (according to SOP).
Manage the floor: customer flow, cleanliness, music/lighting, and overall experience.
Ensure the gym is tidy, stocked, and ready for peak hours.
Step in during busy periods to support FOH and resolve issues calmly.
2) Lead the Front-of-House Team
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and daily supervision of FOH staff.
Create and manage staff schedules and shift coverage.
Coach performance: give feedback, handle conflicts, and build a strong team culture.
Maintain service standards and ensure staff follow SOP.
3) Customer Experience, Memberships & Sales
Welcome new customers and answer enquiries (walk-in, phone, social channels).
Drive membership and product sales through friendly, clear communication.
Handle customer complaints professionally and follow up to close the loop.
Support community relationships with regular customers, schools, and partners.
4) Safety & Risk Management (Safety First)
Enforce gym rules and safe climbing behaviour.
Respond to incidents properly, complete incident reports, and maintain risk logs.
Check facility/equipment readiness (mats, holds, signs, first-aid kit, etc.).
Ensure first-aid readiness and follow emergency response procedures.
5) Programs & Events
Help plan and run programs such as intro classes, youth sessions, leagues, and competitions.
Coordinate event days: logistics, schedules, volunteers, MCs, and customer communication.
Support a friendly and inclusive community atmosphere.
6) Retail & Inventory (Pro-Shop)
Manage product displays and basic merchandising.
Track inventory, do stock counts, and help place orders with vendors.
Monitor shrinkage and keep stock records updated.
7) Marketing & Partnerships Support
Support promotions, partnerships (schools/universities/companies), and event marketing.
Help gather content ideas from the floor (photos/videos/announcements) for social channels.
Support campaign days and community activations.
8) Admin & Basic Finance
Daily cash-up and end-of-day sales tally (EOD).
Handle petty cash, basic invoices/POs, and payroll inputs (as assigned).
Prepare simple weekly/monthly reports (Excel/Google Sheets) such as:
Attendance and peak-hour trends
Membership conversion
Retention/churn
Program participation
9) Facilities Upkeep
Track maintenance issues and follow up on tickets.
Liaise with landlord, technicians, and vendors when needed.
Help ensure the gym is always safe and presentable.
10) Continuous Improvement
Proactively
Identify gaps in operations and customer experience.
Propose practical improvements and help implement better processes and best practices.
Requirements (Must-Have)
2-4 years of experience
in operations or customer-facing roles (fitness, retail, hospitality, F&B, or similar).
At least 1 year
as a supervisor / team lead (scheduling, coaching, feedback, conflict handling).
Safety-first mindset.
First Aid/CPR certified
or willing to obtain within 3 months
(training support provided).
Strong communication skills in
English and Bahasa Malaysia
.
Comfortable with
POS/membership systems
, cash handling, and basic reporting in
Excel/Google Sheets
.
Organized, hands-on, and calm under pressure.
Able to work a rotating roster including
evenings, weekends, and public holidays
.
Right to work in Malaysia.
Nice-to-Have (Bonus)
Mandarin speaking ability.
Climbing experience (bouldering) and genuine passion for the sport.
Experience running events, youth programs, or community programs.
Experience with gym/fitness memberships, sales targets, or retail merchandising.
