Client background: Custom Label Printer manufacturer Location: Bayan Lepas Position: Assistant Manager Product Engineering Headcount: 1 Tenure: Permanent Responsibilities: .As a leader of the Product Engineering team accountable for delivering all NPI activities to meet Printer NPD project timeline, cost and quality .Work as NPI team member in NPD core team to own NPI activities for transition of products from the design team to manufacturing. .Accountable, lead and mentor a team of Mechanical/Electrical Product Engineers working with manufacturing, design project team, sourcing, supply chain and quality functions to deliver successful prototype, engineering builds within operations (NPI activities). .Complex problem solving/strategy person. Strong leadership quality and ability to handle multiple projects. .Design printer enclosure parts by working with R&D team is an added advantage .Hire, Coach, mentor and guide Product Engineers engineers in the team and resolve any bottlenecks from cross functional teams (R&D, MFG, Sourcing, Marketing, Supply Chain and suppliers) and management team. .Own the PE resource requirement & assignment of NPD & Sutatining projects to PE team members. Conduct design reviews with team and critic design base on knowledge of Company manufacturing capability .Conduct design analysis using DOE .Hands on person to assemble, test and debug prototypes .Work with R&D and manufacturing team to transfer products from design to manufacturing .Liaise with and manage suppliers. This involves communicating with suppliers on our design requirements and managing them to ensure that they are competent in meeting their deliverables .Support tooling qualification .Key interface with manufacturing engineering & sourcing supporting creation and sign off on the mfg & supplier plans at all new product development (NPD) stage-gates. .In conjunction with the design team take primary responsibility for rigorous technical capability evaluation/approval of key suppliers for NPDs. .Lead and support sustaining engineering projects delivering substantial cost reductions, cost of quality enhancements related to design of the product or process. .Technical sign off on all design related management of change processes including ECOs, BOM, supplier changes representing R&D and the global design teams. .Lead rigorous technical capability evaluation and approval of key new/alternative suppliers Qualification and skills: .Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering .Minimum of 7 years of experience in the industry people management, coaching & mentoring the team, technical involvement in at least 3 printer scale ups, preferably in a project or team leadership role .Demonstrated ability in organizing and managing multiple projects, setting priorities for self and others, and working independently and as part of a team under aggressive timelines to deliver on all commitments .Knowledge and experience in product development, from concept to manufacturing ramp-up, and product launch, understanding of design-for-manufacturing issues, and ability to formulate quality plans .Technical proficiency in field of expertise .Key technical resource to lead and support minor product design changes related to new market needs/opportunities .Working knowledge of SolidWorks is an added advantage .Excellent English verbal and written communication skills and experience writing technical specifications .Document various aspects at different stages of development. Read & understand 3-D drawings, ability to do small part change with direction thru emails/phone call .Knowledge of Six Sigma, GD&T & FEA
