Job Description


Basic job purpose: This position safe guards the assets of the hotel and provides a safe and hospitable environment for guests, patrons and associates. Roles & responsibilities: You will be expected to manage, control, administer and establish the Safety & Security Department of Sunway Velocity Hotel, in accordance with the policies and procedures of the company. 1. Set up the department Security & Safety Policy & Procedures and to ensure effective implementation and enforcement of the above. To conduct periodic service audit to ensure consistency and efficiency the security performance. 2. To establish and review all administrative policies and operational procedures within the department and in relation to other departments. 3. To supervise and co-ordinate the activities of Safety & Security Department to ensure a smooth and efficient operations. 4. To investigate into all security, fire related incidents, workplace accident and submit reports providing preventive and rectification recommendations. 5. To advise management on Safety and Health matters. To sit in as the Secretary to Safety & Heath Committee and to ensure regular meeting. 6. To supervise the performance of the Security Personnel and ensure that they perform their duties effectively. 7. To ensure smooth traffics flows at the hotel driveway and the car park. To ensure no taxi drivers touting for passengers at the hotel driveway. 8. To provide VVIP escort service as and when required. 9. To assist Maintenance Department in formulating fire evacuation plan, to conduct regular testing on Fire Fighting and Protection System and evacuation drills. 10. To ensure that the Security Personnel provide courteous and professional guest services at all times. 11. To ensure that staffs are handled in a courteous manner and to keep Human Resources informed when suspects/ witnesses are called for investigation. 12. To maintain close rapport with all government authorities and law enforcement agencies in order to facilitate the hotel operations. 13. To perform other duties related or unrelated to Security, as requested by the guest, the Resident Manager or any other person designated by him/her. 14. To assist Human Resources Department on pre-employment screening/ police vetting, staff discipline and subject pertaining to security interest. 15. To execute security initiatives assigned by management from time to time. 16. Continually evaluate and provide recommendations to the management for the improvement of security, fire, current threats and safety and health matters. Emphasis on safekeeping of cash collections, key control, stock control, storage and handling of hazardous chemicals and workplace safety. 17. Establish contingencies plan for: a. Armed hold up b. Major disruptions in hotel \xe2\x80\x93 power failures, water supply, lift malfunction/ man-trapped, LPG leakage etc c. VIP protection site d. Civil unrest e. Earthquake f. Pandemic g. Terrorist and Hostage situation 18. To ensure that all the Security Personnel\xe2\x80\x99s report for duty on time and are well groomed, neat and tidy and fully attired at all times. 19. To maintain a positive and harmonious departmental \xe2\x80\x9cteam working\xe2\x80\x9d environment and strict discipline. 20. To conduct continuous training programmes for all personnel to provide reserve capacity for emergency staffing requirements. To ensure completion of department reports, submission and correspondences. 21. Ensures that all first aid boxes are continuously maintained. 22. To communicate and reinforce safety and security requirements and procedures are followed on specific job instructions 23. To ensure proper use of safe tools and equipment at all times 24. To take immediate remedial action to initiate corrective measures on unsafe conditional or environmental when deemed necessary 25. Responsible for the general housekeeping for cleanliness and at the relevant respective department / section safety operational processes of which the supervisors are in-charge of the department / section. 26. To perform any other duties as assigned by the Management from time to time. Skills & experience: Qualifications State the minimum qualifications required to successfully perform the job. Qualifications include: \xc2\xb7 Well versed in security surveillance system and general security practices \xc2\xb7 Good Knowledge on Fire life safety regulations. \xc2\xb7 Good communication skills and command in English Experience \xc2\xb7 Minimum 6 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in related field and capacity Skills List functional and behavioral competencies required for the job, including: \xc2\xb7 Good knowledge on Security practices \xc2\xb7 Able to identify threats \xc2\xb7 Good Relationship with authorities \xc2\xb7 Basic labour laws Investigative skills \xc2\xb7 Knowledge in security practices \xc2\xb7 Fire Life Safety requirements \xc2\xb7 OSHA Knowledge \xc2\xb7 Training facilitation skills \xc2\xb7 Strong supervisory and leadership skills \xc2\xb7 Coaching and mentoring skills Job Type: Full-time Salary: RM4,000.00 - RM4,400.00 per month Benefits:
