PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESControl Assurance:
  • Stay informed regarding industry operational control best practice and propose enhancements to the current lS control framework.
  • Develop and implement enhanced and efficient control practices within 1st line of defense
  • Liaise with the Reporting team, Operations, Business and GRM to proactively identify areas where control validation/ assurance reviews are warranted (e.g. areas with frequent OREs that include near-misses and other non-monetary impacts, persistent KRI breaches) to validate the sufficiency of controls
  • Develop and implement a control assessment methodology to meet the requirements of the Internal Control Management Policy (ICMP). Work with the Operational Control Reporting team to establish management reporting on control practices implemented globally (including the control assessment program).
  • Implement and oversee execution of operational control management framework components of risk assessment, operational risk event reporting KRI\'s in accordance with standards established by GRM Oversight. Continuously look for improving these operational control practices.
  • Provide guidance around the nature and extent of control activities, taking account of the context around a control (such as use of automation), including supervisory controls assessing process completeness, accuracy and alignment to policy/procedures
Risk & Control Assessments:
  • Using a risk/control-based approach, participate in/actively contribute to the Business-level, Country-level and Enterprise-level Operational Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) Program to ensure standardization and consistency of practices in the end-to-end process.
  • Annually, identify appropriate RCSAs to be executed on horizontal units to be presented to GRM
Risk Governance:
  • Analyze results of internal programs that may warrant highlighting in management reports or warrant additional control evaluation/ enhancement
  • Provide operational control management training, including the design of tools and practices as required or directed by Operational Control Management.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts in the business, Functions and Operations; leverage these relationships in the wider execution of control mitigation processes, embedding of new policies, etc.
  • Provide support to the business on current internal control best practices and apply them in the continuous enhancement of control management approaches, tools and management information
Reporting
  • Lead and manage bank\'s IS\'s First Line of Defense (1LOD operational risk and control programs) for the reporting of operational risks, Key Risk Indicator Program, and support of the operational risk appetite elements. Primarily responsible for the execution of Risk Reporting for the IS Trust legal entity and supports the global consolidation of metrics and reporting with Bank entity counterparts.
  • Leads the advancement of cascaded risk and control dashboards and supports the risk elements of cascaded management dashboards.
  • Analysis of trends across IS risk data and suggest actions to be roll-out by the operational control team.
  • Maintains governance standards and processes on KRIs and periodically monitors to ensure alignment in definition, taxonomy and standards
  • Supports the use or KRIs by the first line in their daily management activities.
  • Provides insightful and value-added operational control analysis and reporting to peers in Operational Control a risk profile, existing and emerging areas of risk, implications for operational risk appetite, and the ability of the risk management and control infrastructure to support business activities.
  • Supports the production of ad hoc reporting to support same groups as mentioned above.
  • Helps identify the requirements for bank\'sIS risk reporting technology to support timely and meaningful collection and reporting/flagging of KRI and other supporting metrics that support management\'s current risk profile and highlight emerging risks.
  • Works closely with GRM re: Archer, its improvement over time and any emerging risk reporting methodologies.
  • Executes bank\'sIS\'s first line risk reporting & data strategy, framework and programs to ensure bank\'sIS supports OERM to meet regulatory requirements, including requirements under Basel II.
  • Provides leadership to the 1st LoD (Operations Control and front line business) on metrics and measures to support a reporting and informed risk culture.

The Successful Applicant

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Required
  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent experience
  • Preferably a reasonable duration of relevant industry working experience
  • Preferably a reasonable duration of relevant risk and operational control frameworks and their execution
  • Good knowledge of businesses with particular emphasis on the control environment
  • Good knowledge of operational risk and control management industry best practices
  • Stakeholder management and reporting
  • Presentation skills, experience running Governance forum

  • Risk and Control Identification & Assessment
