Are you client-centric to the core? We are looking for a detail-oriented and driven director of business to increase company revenue by identifying profitable business opportunities and developing long-term business growth strategies. This will also include growth from clients we already partner with and clients we are currently serving. The responsibilities of the business director will include recommending ways to improve operations planning, attending meetings with clients and advisors, and notifying partners of key business developments. You should also be able to assess business risks by analyzing financial, statistical, and economic data.


You should be persuasive and have strong business acumen. Ultimately, a business director at Edelman should be adept at negotiating sound business deals as well as demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Part of the scope involves working with and alongside the Reputation Director who oversees Corporate Reputation, Integrated Reputation, and Public Affairs & Government Relations. This will include monitoring day-to-day operations, assessing budgets and other finance-related issues, and ensuring that financial obligations are met and remain stable. You will be asked to acquire reports from department managers and report regularly to the practice lead and you will assist the practice lead in overseeing the reputation practice which consists of the corporate reputation team, the integrated reputation team, and the public affairs & government relations team.


What you will be doing:

    • Building solid relationships with clients, vendors, and distributors, as well as communications and marketing teams.
    • Developing in-depth knowledge of company offerings to identify profitable business opportunities.
    • Directing marketing efforts by presenting market research to marketing directors and suggesting strategies to expand market research.
    • Assessing marketing and sales as well as supplier and vendor operations and recommending improvements as needed.
    • Preparing all documentation required for requests for proposals (RFPs).
    • Researching emerging trends and recommending new company offerings to satisfy customers\xe2\x80\x99 needs.
    • Developing and managing strategic partnerships to grow business.
    • Presenting business or marketing opportunities to company executives and management.
    • Monitoring the reputation teams day to day operations, assessing budgets and other finance-related issues, ensuring that financial obligations are met and remain stable.
    • Report regularly to the practice lead and assist in overseeing the reputation practice which consists of the three teams mentioned above.


What is required of you:

    • Bachelor\'s degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or related field; master\'s degree is advantageous.
    • 7-10 years of relevant experience in Corporate Reputation, Integrated Reputation, and Public Affairs & Government Relations.
    • Excellent writing skills.
    • Be able to work fast and respond immediately specifically for issues and crisis-riddled clients and able to work independently as much as possible.
    • Understand nuances pertaining to government relations, corporate and stakeholder engagement extremely well.
    • Preferably someone with agency experience in Public Affairs, Public Relations but who has also worked with or for GLCs and GLICs.
    • Proven business development, sales, or marketing experience.
    • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Exceptional leadership and management skills.
    • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
    • Strong business acumen.
    • Detail-oriented and persuasive.
