A day in the life of a technical writer includes crafting, editing, revising, and publishing technical product information similar to datasheets, specifications, design guides, application notes and user manuals.
Primary responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting data to determine appropriate syntax, presentation style, voice and grammatical usage. Technical writers are also responsible for scheduling reviews, recording approval, and maintaining information architecture metadata.
This position is an integral part of product development and customer support teams. Success in this position requires to ability to work closely with engineering, field-sales, and factory teams from around the world to identify gaps in existing content and propose solutions that enhance the value and accuracy of product documentation.
Primary Qualifications
Bachelor\'s degree in English, Technical Writing, Technical Communications or a related liberal arts program. Candidates with a background in Engineering or Computer Science may be considered as well.
Excellent writing skills combined with a technical background. Degreed engineers with excellent English skills and experience developing and maintaining documentation for factory processes or product support are encouraged to apply.
Minimum 2 years\' experience as a technical writer comfortable with planning, schedule negotiation, task management, publication, and post-release updates.
Minimum 2 years\' experience of industry-standard authoring tools such as Microsoft* Office and the Adobe* family of products
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with content management systems, version control best practices and HTML/XML workflows
DITA, Doxygen, and/or GitHub skills
This role will require the candidate to be on-site.
