Job Description

As the Associate Manager, Chemistry, you will lead a variety of work related to the formulation, labeling, and consumer acceptability of our products to meet the expanding organizational and market needs of our business. You will develop new products, line extensions, and lead technology advancements which result in consumer preferred benefits. You will be the subject matter expert for the chemistry function within the category, driving and building technical acumen to support business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop formulations to meet internal ingredient standards and industry best practices for safety, scientific significance, accuracy, and recordkeeping, while delivering on consumer needs, technical requirements, and cost objectives
• Maintain awareness of regulatory and sustainability issues applicable to product launches
• Review trade publications and other industry news sources for raw material information, regulatory updates, and educational opportunities
• Investigate new raw materials and technologies through laboratory experimentation, record findings, and suggest applications
• Meet with chemical suppliers to be aware of new raw materials and the possible second sourcing of raw materials to meet cost objectives
• Lead the technical portion of the product claims and demo process through the new product development cycle
• Monitor stability testing, including first production run stabilities, and maintain records thoroughly and concisely compliant with good laboratory practices
• Prepare samples and track documentation for micro-challenge, toxicological, clinical, and performance testing. Coordinate outside testing with appropriate resources as required
• Utilize knowledge of experimental design (DOE) and statistics to efficiently select appropriate course(s) of action to meet business needs
• Coach and mentor junior scientist to develop capabilities and build collective RD&E knowledge, including input to training objectives and performance

Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

• Bachelor\xc3\xa2\xc2\x80\xc2\x99s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science Technology, or equivalent disciplines
• Minimum 6 years of formulation experience
• Experience in experimental design and preparing product specifications
• Experience with translating consumer insights into product specifications and designs
