Job Description


Role Responsibilities

The senior data analyst will work closely with data to help the organization make better business decisions. Using techniques from a range of disciplines, including computer programming, mathematics, and statistics, senior data analyst draw conclusions from data to describe, predict, and improve business performance. They form the core of any analytics team and tend to be generalists versed in the methods of mathematical and statistical analysis.

Senior data analysts are also responsible for providing high level advanced triage support to stakeholders, business partners, and product teams in managing specific issue resolution activities. They utilize Programmatic and quantitative methods to identify patterns and relationships in large data sets, as well as apply mathematical, statistical, and other data-driven analysis to address intelligence questions. They are also responsible for performing quantitative analysis of complex business situations, such as strategies, performance, and solutions involving onboarding and customer performance. Besides using quantitative tools, they may also apply advanced computer modelling, database tools and/or other approaches in conducting the analysis.

The senior data analyst work description also entails providing leadership to junior analysts and brainstorming with the line manager and teams on approaches or solutions to a business problem.

It also involves suggesting solutions for moderate to complex sales/customer opportunities and internal processes, as well as overseeing cross-departmental projects as needed.

  • Person is responsible for providing high quality Data, Expertise, and Insight to Process Owners, Operations Teams and Management within the Financial Crime Business Units and Segments.
  • Providing innovative analytical insights within the Data Products Program
Business*
  • Performing various data analytics in SQL and MS Excel using statistical models or industry accepted tools.
  • Participate in ad-hoc Data research initiatives to provide Data, ideas and support to R&D / Process Improvement initiatives.

Providing relational database expertise to construct and execute SQL queries to be used in data analysis activities

People & Talent

Should provide architectural consultation to the management of the DataMart and the related tech stacks
  • Should be able to technically assist the code components developed
  • Should support and be responsible for country specific restrictions data execution and issue triage
  • Should reverse engineer the already developed components and develop expertise to give consultations on the inhouse MI products available

QUALIFICATIONS*

TRAINING, LICENSES, MEMBERSHIPS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Education: A Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Analytics, Computer Science, or Data Science; Mathematics or in a related field and 3-5 years of industry experience in data analysis using SQL, Hive, Hadoop technologies, Big data & MicroStrategy technologies.
  • Certifications: Certification in any of the Financial Domain or Banking Domain , SQL/Hsql and relational database knowledge are required for the senior data analyst position in the financial sector especially in financial crime compliance domain.
  • Knowledge: An advanced data management techniques with extensive experience. 7-10 years of industry experience as a Business/Data Analyst with 3-5 experience in data analysis using tools such as SQL and Excel
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of Scripting experience in (Python, Perl, JavaScript, Shell); Practical knowledge of data in various forms (data warehouses/SQL, unstructured data environments/PIG,HIVE, Impala, Think cell and pivot tables in Excel); Familiarity with BI reporting tools (i.e. MicroStrategy, Tableau and Business Objects); Experience working within process management and improvement methodologies \xe2\x80\x93 Lean, Six Sigma, etc. and demonstrating knowledge of data governance, data quality management concepts and data quality tools (i.e. Informatica DQ); Understanding of Agile development methodologies, software design patterns, network design and architecture; Experience in quantitative analysis and statistical modelling. Experience in continuous process improvement methods is a plus.
  • Stress Management: The senior data analyst must be able to work well under pressure and achieve results within the scheduled timeframe
  • Communication skills: The role of a senior data analyst involves working with people and managing junior team of analysts. It is crucial that they have exceptional writing and verbal communication skills to perform their job duties and manage others.
