Objectives of the Position
Within the Product Data Transparency & Stewardship, we drive BASF\xe2\x80\x99s overall Data Management and contribute to the convenient, efficient, and compliant data usage within BASF. Striving for a 360\xc2\xb0 transparency of our data landscape as well as further developing the overall Data Stewardship capabilities, we are an integral part of our data value chain and consult our internal partners on an optimized and sustainable usage of data. As part of an agile team, you will independently drive the further development of the BASF Data Catalog into a central platform for data transparency in BASF. You will develop and edit the operating model as well as workflows in the BASF Data Catalog as your core activities.
Main Tasks

• 
  You develop and edit the operating model as well as workflows in the BASF Data Catalog.
• You analyze the needs of stakeholders in the divisions with respect to metadata management and data transparency and you design concepts, workflows and information pipelines according to address these needs.
• You specify technical requirements for the BASF Data Catalog that meet stakeholder requirements and collaborate with DevOps Engineers to drive their implementation.
• You share your expert knowledge on the handling of data as well as the BASF Data Catalog by consulting stakeholders and as part of projects.
• You improve the metadata quality in the BASF Data Catalog and proactively identify metadata issues.
• You implement automatized content checks in the BASF Data Catalog and derive actions for improvement as well as automatized maintenance of content where possible.
• You communicate effectively and you create easy-to-understand training material and instructor led training sessions.

Requirements
Education

• Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in (business) informatics or comparable technical education in the field of computer science

Working Experience

• minimum of 5+ years of working experience or certifications in Data Management bodies of knowledge (e.g., DAMA, DCAM)

Technical & Professional Knowledge (Mandatory)

• proficiency in Data Modeling and Design Principles for Enterprise Data
• advanced experience in SQL
• knowledge of Metadata Management and Data Lineage tooling such as Data Catalogues, (Meta-) Data Quality and Data Privacy (e.g., Collibra, Informatica Data Catalog, Talend Data Catalog etc.)
• high language proficiency in English and communication skills to convey technical and business contexts
• ability to build strong relationships and to collaborate with remote teams and strong analytical

Technical & Professional Knowledge (Additional)

• Experience with Python or R is beneficial
