Job Summary

The Barista (Product/Menu Development) is responsible for developing and improving beverage offerings to enhance the customer experience, strengthen the brand identity, and support business growth. This role involves researching trends, testing new recipes, training staff on new menu items, and ensuring quality consistency across outlets.

Responsibilities

Product & Menu Development

Research current beverage trends and develop innovative coffee and non-coffee drinks. Create seasonal and signature drinks to attract new customers and retain regulars. Standardize recipes, presentation, and portion control to ensure consistency. Conduct tasting sessions and gather feedback from team and customers. Cost and price new menu items in line with company budget and margin targets.

Quality & Standards

Maintain high product quality, including taste, texture, presentation, and temperature. Source and test new ingredients, equipment, and brewing methods. Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.

Training & Implementation

Train baristas and outlet teams on preparation methods for new menu items. Prepare training materials, SOPs, and recipe cards for easy implementation. Monitor performance and quality after menu launch.

Collaboration & Reporting

Work closely with the operations, procurement and marketing team for product launch strategies. Provide regular reports on product performance, customer feedback, and improvement plans. Support special events or promotional campaigns involving new drinks.

Requirements

Minimum 1-2 years of barista experience; experience in R&D or menu development is an added advantage. Strong knowledge of coffee brewing methods, equipment, and flavor profiling. Creativity and passion for developing new beverage concepts. Good understanding of cost control and recipe standardization. Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

This is a contract / project based position

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
