Productivity Initiatives (PI) is designed to identify and implement opportunities to improve productivity to achieve significant and sustainable benefits that can be reinvested in our strategic priorities and support sustainable growth. PI uses data and analytics to explore and identify new opportunities across AZ. The two capabilities within PI includes Analytical capabilities and Contract Assurance Program (CAP) capabilities that includes Royalty review capabilities.

PI is part of Global Business Services (GBS). GBS is the heart of the AZ Finance function. GBS are accountable for the design and delivery of high quality, simple to operate transactional finance processes which, combined with outstanding business analysis and insight, enables our customers to focus on AZ's strategic priorities. GBS remit covers record to report, procure to pay and order to cash, tax, planning & forecasting and management reporting, to customers across AZ Globally in Commercial, Science, Operations & Enabling Functions, Tax, Treasury and Group Finance. AZ's Finance function is continuing its transformation journey with the objective of delivering excellence in financial operations.

Role Summary
Senior Business Analyst, Analytics is responsible and accountable for high quality data analysis, data story-telling and initiative delivery tracking. He/she also supports business partner (BP) in stakeholder management and support business analyst capability development and coaching.

Key Responsibilities
Senior Business Analyst, Analytics have 5 key areas of responsibility:

1. Data analysis

Resourceful to seek and identify different data sources and condenses data - into usable form that will answer specific business question and issues.

Proficient in pulling together large amounts of internal and external data, apply sound judgment and provide recommendations based on data.

Recognizes trends, patterns and able to connect the dots to develop data insights and findings to build and validate hypotheses.

Ensures data analytics activities uphold standards around data security and integrity. Performs data quality checks such as remapping of General Ledger categories, operational and financial data reconciliation.

2. Data story telling

Proficient in data storytelling to BP and stakeholders with the goal of building and validating a comprehensive data set and assumptions that will support decision making.

3. Initiative delivery tracking

Interacts with BP and stakeholders to provide updates on metrics and measures including initiative's benefit reporting, cost reporting and implementation status, manages request for information and follow-up on projects until completion.

Design, monitor performance and report ongoing and ad hoc metrics in reports, presentations, and dashboards that are of value and interprets them to BP and stakeholders.

4. Supports BP in stakeholder management

Supports BP in stakeholder and third-party management by using data to challenge ideas, promote constructive discussions and harmonize conflicting views to drive positive outcomes.

5. Supports business analyst capability development and coaching

Assists in managing and motivating business analyst to enable high quality delivery.

Builds working knowledge of business requirements and drivers which are shared and understood by business analyst.

Coaches and develops business analyst to drive high performing team that is efficient and effective

Essential Requirements

Bachelor's degree in any field with at least 5 years' relevant experience in analytics.

Proficiency in databases and data pulling tools (SQL)

Strong analytical ability and a good sense of business acumen.

Ability to collaborate, work independently and work efficiently in a high-energy environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Gutsy to challenge when things are not done according to AZ's values and be part of a solution to resolve issues and upholding our values.

Highly curious with strong desire to discover new learnings.

Work well in a VUCA (vulnerable, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) environment.

Desirable

Working knowledge of programming languages (Python/R) or data visualization software will be an added advantage.

Strong knowledge of AZ operating model combined with external good practice

Previous experience working on global project

Demonstrated capacity to effectively run multiple and frequently changing priorities

Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines

Demonstrated ability to perform in an environment that emphasizes on teamwork

Schedule flexibility to accommodate global time zone
